I think this is a fake item...

What do you think?

Did Nicholas even give Tatiana a Faberge pheasant for Christmas in 1909?

And why would a Faberge item be marked "Italy?"

Based on the "broken English" information given, it is totally a fake; IF it was legitimate, one of the photos would/should show the Faberge hallmark.  The provenance attributed to "Goldberg Estate" with a copy of Auschwitz registration is appalling.  A cursory view of the "paint applique" is also appalling.  Seller also lists 177 reviews, the majority of which are all from the same individual... "thebestfromukraine"  Buyer beware indeed.  You should report the seller to Ebay.

I just reported it.

That has got to be the strangest, most specific fraudulent ebay item I have ever seen.

The quality of everything about this piece indicates it is an utter and complete fake. Fabergé never made anything painted, much less painted so badly. As mentioned the "Italy" signature also indicates a total fake. Every word of the listing is a deliberate deception. There should not be the slightest doubt of the fact of this being a deliberate fake of dubious quality and zero provenance.

To use a Death Camp victim of the Nazis to "legitimize" this fraud adds insult to injury.

After reading the seller's description, we can now add tin to the list of materials used in Faberge's workshops.

Seriously, I don't see anything about this bird made in Italy that would cause the seller - or anybody else - to embark upon such a flight of fancy re its provenance.

That is what I found most appalling.

A "tin Faberge bird from Italy"; who knew??? Sadly,  I suspect someone will buy it.
