Leopold II was Archduke of Austria and Grand Duke of Tuscany from 1865 to 1890 and Holy Emperor and King of Hungary and Bohemia from 1890 to 1892.

He was the third son of Holy Emperor Francis I and his wife Empress Maria Theresa.

He married Infanta Maria Luisa of Spain, daughter of King Carlos III of Spain and his wife Maria Amalia, princess of Poland and Saxony. In Austria she was styled as Empress Maria Ludowika.
