LEININGEN

Does anybody have an image of Ernst Leopold 4th Prince of Leiningen (1830-1904)? He was a half-nephew of Queen Victoria and served in the British navy. It is quite difficult to find pictures of the Leiningen family despite the fact that they are so well connected.

His father, Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Emich (1804-1856) was Queen Victoria's half-brother.
Here he is

I have images of his father Emich Carl (1763-1814) and his first wife Henriette of Reuss-Lobenstein-Ebersdorf.

Karl Emich

There was a bio published in 1997, Hermann Nehlsen: Fürst Karl zu Leiningen (1804-1856) that would probably be a good bet to have a picture of his wife.

There was this tidbit about Karl Emich:

On April 20, 1842, he was among the twenty-one noblemen who, at Biebrich on the Rhine, near Mainz, formed an association for the purpose of purchasing land in Texas and directing German emigration there, the so-called Adelsverein. At this meeting he was elected president of the organization. The prince did not personally play an active role in the affairs of the society, however, for by 1844, when the group had been reorganized into a stock company, he had already accepted the presidency of the Bavarian Imperial Council. He held this post until 1848, dividing his time chiefly between Amorbach and Munich. During this time, in 1847, a small settlement of German immigrants was being established in Texas on the north bank of the Llano River; it was named Leiningen in honor of the president of the society.....In February 1851 he resigned as president of the Adelsverein. His successor, Prince Herman of Wied, was elected by the membership on May 12, 1851. On November 13, 1856, Leiningen died of a stroke at Waldleiningen, near Amorbach. Leiningen, a rural Lutheran community in Llano County, Texas, still bears his name.

There is now an interesting situation in Leiningen family...

Prince Karl Emich von Leiningen(former Head of the family) and his third wife Countess Isabelle von und zu Egloffstein have become parents of son Prince Emich on 12th of April 2010.

Can anyone tell me who will be the future Head of the family? His son Emich from what may be(and yet may be not) considered an "equal" marriage with a Countess von und zu Egloffstein....

To remind you,Prince Karl Emich has two daughters from his previous marriages: Princess Cecilie by his late wife Princess Margarita von Hohenlohe-Oehringen
and Princess Theresa by his second wife Gabriele Thyssen...

Because of his second marriage he lost his position as Head of the Leiningen family to his brother Prince Andreas who has 1 daughter and 2 sons by his equal wife Princess Alexandra von Hannover...

So,any informations about who has now most rights to be the Head of the Leiningen family? The son(Emich) of Prince Karl Emich(elder brother-former Head of the family) and Countess  Isabelle von und zu Egloffstein(not exactly "equal" but could be considered good enough based on Leiningen House law) or elder son(Ferdinand) of Prince Andreas(younger brother but proclaimed Head of the family) and Princess Alexandra von Hannover(equal)?

So,simply said:Emich or Ferdinand?

That is indeed an interesting situation, Marc. Even though it may seem sensible at one time to shift the line of succession over to a junior agnate when the senior heir doesn't seem likely to produce ebenbürtige heirs and thus avoid an uncle-nephew succession in favour of a direct father-son succession, one should never say never. Perhaps Andreas will have to hand back the headship to Karl Emich.

It all now depends on Leiningen House Law which can determinate von und zu Egloffstein as "good enough" or not...so much depends on that...that's why I asked if anyone knows...

Yes, the Fürstlich Leiningisches Hausgesetz seems rather vague on this point.

I have just seen one interesting thing on facebook...Princess Cecilie von Leiningen is a fan of group called "Her Highness the Begum Aga Khan" who was her stepmother and mother of her half-sister Princess Theresa von Leiningen...She is also friends with her present stepmother Isabelle and Count Johannes von und zu Egloffstein, her brother...and she is also friends with Prince Hermann and Princess Olga zu Leiningen, son and daughter of her uncle Andreas who had a dispute with her own father Karl Emich over Headship of the House of Leiningen...

maybe they are one happy family after all ;)

Two days ago the heir of a Romanov pretender married another Kirillovich descendant - and both are descendants of Queen Victoria!

See https://ru-royalty.livejournal.com/5300379.html

Today in Amorbach is the wedding of Hereditary Prince Ferdinand of Leiningen and Princess Victoria-Luise of Prussia. The civil ceremony was held on the 29th of April 2017. The bride and groom are the descendants of Queen Victoria and the Russian Tsar Alexander II. This is the first wedding between the descendants of Queen Victoria since 1981, when the groom's parents were married.

The couple are second cousins once removed, grand-daughter and great grandson of the two sisters Grand Duchesses Maria and Kira Kirillovna. As you can see from the pictures the third, agnatic (eventually also cognatic) Kirillovich branch was represented by their cousins Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna and Grand Duke Georgiy Mikhailovich - as usual looking very much the Gipys Baron and Soviet cafeteria lady.

The New Russian (in both senses of the word) in the extended royal clan was also present: The new Princess of Hannover, (Катя Ганноверская) married to the groom's first cousin. Ducal Oldenburg cousin Beatrix von Storch was presumably busy campaigning (for her right-wing political goals, though not a restoration of the monarchies represented) only one week before the German federal elections.

Жених и невеста являются потомками......

he bride and groom are the descendants....

Ah, small grammatical glitch correction: Of course they are descendants, not the (only) descendants! The indefinite vs. definite form can cause some troubles in translation from Slavic to Germanic languages, much like speakers of Germanic languages will have a hard time wrapping their heads around why потомками (descendants) has to be in the instrumental case here. :-)
