Marc,
I have just sent to you the portraits of the Lievens (Princess Dorothea and her husband Prince Christopher) in 10 separate mails. The files are extremaly big.  :oIt keep me about 2 hours, so I am afraid I can block your mail. I am sorry.  :-[Still I hope the portraits are worth your patience. :)

Radoslaw, thank you so much but I could just see Lieven 2 posted to me because they were smaller! If it's not a big problem for yoy, could you make those portraits smaller(I don't mind) and then send them! Please, because I just saw Lieven 2 post and it was great,so I can imagine the rest of it!Thank you so much one more time!

Marc,
It appeard that I am still sending you the portraits. A server had broken the connecton, so you could not get all of my mails. There should be:
Lieven
Lieven 2
Lieven 4
Lieven 6
Lieven 7
Lieven 3
Lieven 8
Lieven 9
Lieven 10
Still I am sending two more:
The Lievens
Lieven 5
Please if you obtain all of them let my know which you could see and which I should send again if possible in smoller size. I suppose, the problem is that all the portraits in "jpeg" are OK and all in "words" are too big. If I am right it will be difficult to do something. I mean I am too stupid to do that, still I can scan some of them from the book that I have, and send you in jpeg, however most of them are not so great like Lieven 2. They are black and white.
Anyway let me know which of my mails you have received and which are wrong.

I used to be a student of Dominic Lieven and I know for sure that he is related to the family.

Hello Nati
You must be right. I have no honour to know Prof. Dominic Lieven, but I guess he is related to this family because of the subjects of his book mainly connected with Russia. I am author of the book about Princess Dorothea Lieven that is to be published befor the end of the following year, and that is why I am interested in the Lievens familly, and that is why I found this forum.

Does anyone know the ancestry of the von Lieven family previous to Andree Romanovich von Lieven and his wife Charlotte Karlovna Posse?  I've used the site http://www.vgd.ru/L/li.htm#%CB%E8%E5%EF%E0 and found it back to this couple.

Von Lieven family are descendants of Livonian prince Kaupo (d. Ca. 1230). In 1202 Kaupo visited Pope Celestine III, who granted him Christian nobility (Kaupo was baptisted between 1198-1201) with family name Liwe (from Livonian name in old upper-German "Liwe; Liwen).
Grandson of Kaupo was first who used name "Liwen" (Nikolaus von Liwen). In XVII-XVIII C. family name transformed to "von Lieven".
