Ugh....god bless toothpaste...

Do you think she never use toothbrush? LOL...actually her teeth are with gaps.

I said toothpaste.

Her teeth are white enough, I think. She had bad teeth, that's all.

According to some notes I have from the book "The Last Tsar" She had a brother who stayed behind in the USSR and became a big man in the theater (?) ect In part because of his actions in the 1905 revolution. He died of starvation during the Siege of Leningrad during WW II/GPW. Also according to my notes from FOTR one of Alexandra's maids Elizabeth Ersberg who went to Siberia with her. Later during the 1920s returned to the USSR and also died of starvation in march 1942 during the siege of leningrad.

hello all,
I really adore the photographs of Mathilde, if there's one thing she had in common with Nicky, with was the photogenic nature.
I was wondering if anyone could help me out on a few minute details on her and Nicholas meeting.

They met at her graduating performance correct? And Alexander told his son "Don't flirt"
Has it been mentioned already where this performance took place? From some I have heard it was a some sort of a ball, but I'm not sure where?
And there was some mention that Mathilde joined them at the dinner table? Did Nicholas speak to her at all?
I'm sorry if I'm repeating false information, but any corrections or tips would be most helpful.

Thank you !
- BPJ.

On March 23rd 1890 Emperor Alexander Iii, his wife and son Nicholas attended the performance of the ballet Esmeralda, music by Pugni, with Kshesinskaya in the main role, as final exam of the Imperial Theater Institute. At the dinner afterwards, Kshesinskaya was seated between the Emperor and Nicholas, so for sure they exchanged words....

Sorry, I was wrong here above. In the graduation performance she danced with partner Rakhmaninov a pas-de-deux from the ballet la fille mal gardee. Sorry for that mistake

While the Mirror is a bit sensationalist, I have read the passage translated into English by Helen Azar -- and it is definitely true that Mathilde did at least claim to have been pregnant by Nicholas.  Even if she did later retract it.

I'm a bit surprised that I wasn't able to find this being discussed here...
