It is my understanding that A. Taneyev was the Principal Director of the Tsar's "Particular" or personal Chancellery, in other words, the Tsar's personal funds ("privy purse") and assets, as opposed to the "state" funds under his control. As such, he would have managed these personal funds for the Tsar.

Thanks FA

I thought that Mr. Peter Bark was in charge of the privy purse, not Anna's father...Boy do I feel silly! :D

 Anna's niece, Olga Ramel.

She was born in 1912 in St Petersburg, had two sisters.  GD Tatiana was godmother to the eldest daughter Tatiana. Parents were Alexander and Alexandra Pistolekors.
Family left from Russia in 1916. Olga settled in Sweden. Married Hans Ramel in 1959.

Perhaps someone who understands Swedish better could translate more...  ::)

I´m a little confussed about the date the family left Russia. Alexandra von Pistolkors, if i remember well, visited the Alexander Palace during the time Anna was ill, in February 1917. She was in fact very concerned about the general situation and the aproaching revolution.

I read the passage again and it says that in December 1916 Alexander was in Finland and, because it wasn't safe in Russia, persuaded his wife and daughters to come to Helsinki.
My Swedish is a bit rusty so I don't know if the rest of the family arrived to Helsinki after New year or earlier.  ???

weren't the pistolkors very close to rasputin?  if so, of course they would have felt belaguered after the events of december 1916.

Hello all, just read some of this, one mentioned Alexandra's paintings , the Hillwood  in Washington D.C. Has the largestest selection of  Romanov paintings  I've seen outside of Russia. And I've been to Russia 3 times. There are at least from life 3  paintings of Alexandra. AND Many other Romanovs. Plus the famous one of Serge Obolensky, done during the revolution in the Crimea. Its the American jackpot, thanks to Margorie Merryweather Post. All people interested in the Romanovs need to see this place.Photos signed by the Grand Duchesses, Faberge, jewels, if its Imerial Russian she had it. I noticed that the von Pistolkors family was discussed on here....

What happened to Princess Paley's middle daughter (from her first marriage) Olga? Did she marry?

Eric Avgustinovitch von Pistolkors (1853-1935) married in 1884 Olga Valerianovna Karnovitch (1865-1929) (after their divorce, Olga will marry Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovitch of Russia). Three children :
1.  Alexander Ericovitch von Pistolkors (1885-1944). Married Alexandra Alexandrovna Taneieva (see above).
2. Olga (1888-1963)
3. Marianna (1890-1976)

As you know the Paleys where half brother and sisters of the Pistohlkors.

It is interesting to note that Marianna Ericovna von Pistolkors (or Pistohlkors)1890-1976 married Nicholas von Zarnekau 1885-1976 son of Prince Peter of Oldenburg and his wife Agrippine Djaparidzé who received for herself and her descent the title of Countess Zarnekau.
Prince Peter of Oldenburg 1850-1906 was the uncle of Prince Peter of Oldenburg the first husband of GD Olga Alexandrovna (Nicholas II's sister), and the grandson of GD Catherine Pavlovna (daughter of Emperor Paul I).

So it is another link to Anna Wyroubova and the Romanov...

Unfortunately Nicholas von Zarnekau and Marianna divorced and Nicholas in his middle age married a young French commoner in Biarritz France where he spent the rest of his life. They were childless as far as I know ??

Very interesting. I had no idea that the Zarnekaus were connected to the Romanov family! I admired what Countess von Zarnekau did for her step-siblings. I remember reading in Marie's memoirs that Marianne came all the way from Petrograd to warn her about something. Right now, I can't remember what!

Joanna,

As promised ;), this is the link between Anna and the Pistolkors :

Alexandre Sergeievitch Taneieff (1850-1918 ) married Nadejda Illarionovna Tolstoïeva (1860-1937). Three children :
1. Anna Alexandrovna (1884-1964). Married Alexander Vassilievitch Wyrouboff (?-1919).
2. Sergei Alexandrovitch (1886-1975)
3. Alexandra Alexandrovna (1888-1968 ). Married Alexander Ericovitch von Pistolkors (see below).

Very interesting, thank you. Was Anna's mother related to Tolstoy? In her book, Anna says her mother was a granddaughter of the general who defeated Napoleon in 1812, anything on him and how the family line goes?

Have a nice day !

Wasn't this Mariana (who was also the stepsister of Dmitri) the one Vyrobova alleged to be at the Yussupov home the night of Rasputin's murder?

She married Prince (Viktor?) Kreutz.
