It is difficult to speculate when you don`t know the people that you are talking about but what Preved says might be true. It is indeed a big age difference and although Alexandra looks much younger than her age and the couple looks beautiful.... Once your infatuation wears off it is difficult to build real relationship if you don`t have common interests or your intellectual background is different.
Lack of common children does not cement the relationship... Now Martin must have acquainted many influental personages and he can make a new start with a new lady.

Going through two divorces in 10 years will probably play havoc with the emotions of the two vulnerable teenage princes. It sounds like the script of one of those Danish dogme movies, where idyllic Scandinavian family life collapses in a cesspool of modern nihilism. Let's hope they grow up to deal with it in a more creative and less obvious way than racing sports cars.

Берёзы севера мне милы,—
Их грустный, опущённый вид,
Как речь безмолвная могилы,
Горячку сердца холодит.

Well, Alexandra`s first husband - prince Joachim - was not the best of husbands as he retained many of his youthful habits i.e. frequent visits to pubs, drinking alcohol or contacts with women. If it was so it is understandable why alexandra decided to end their relationsip. if she wasn`t a priority in her usband`s eyes.... she didn`t want to be nr 2 or 3 or 4. I guess ( from my own experience) that once you have a healthy bond with you mom and dad divorces do not damage your psyche,
. Well, they do but not to the extent that most people think... It is not a disaster.
but the second divorce in 10 years and subsequent disappointment is a heavy blow for Alexandra

It seems this was a common misconception after their divorce, but it was then followed by reports from friends that Joachim had been acting that way because of Alexandra's extramarital affair with Martin Jørgensen, which had been going on for two years. See http://ekstrabladet.dk/flash/udlandkendte/article3223331.ece

It should be noted that Alexandra found her toyboy in the "royal entourage", as Martin Jørgensen is the son of a photographer / documentary producer who has worked closely with the royal family for years. As a photographer himself Martin met Alexandra when he worked together with his father making documentaries about the royal family and Alexandra, including her trips abroad.

It's probably harder for royals than for us ordinary mortals, because they are always on display, are hounded by the press, have less emotional support from their busy and distant parents and grandparents and see their family quarrels sensationalized in the media and criticized by the public.

Plus it can't be that easy being the (rejected) stepsons of a father figure as problematic as Martin Jørgensen, who, as mentioned above, has always rejected the daughter he fathered 19 years ago and let a friend (who he fell out with) assume paternity of her.

The conclusion after her two marriages is probably that Alexandra is attracted to immature men who react to challenges in foolish ways.

Playboy and ex-comital consort* Martin is already dating a vey recently divorced ravishing architect / TV host celebrity just one year older than himself: See http://www.seoghoer.dk/nyheder/martin-og-eva-paa-hed-date

* Grævling, which in Danish sounds like a diminutive of greve, count, but means "badger" would have been a fitting title for this nocturnal rummager.

I had no idea of that! I thought Alexandra was the innocent party, a  victim of her playboy husband. I have changed my mind on that. Joachim is a very noble man, then
