Well actually she did not take part to that event, but Nazis thought she was a "politic animal" and also believed she knew more than she did.

But first of all she was the daughter of a "traitor" King.

thanks for all of this great info on Princess Mafalda, she is a fascinating person to me!  i collect royalty postcards, mostly look for those of Princess Alice and her family now and i've just started getting those ofo Mafalda and her family of origin, and her children....how sad that her husband was involved in any sort of positive way with Hitler and Mussolini!!  i think there must be a special place in hell for the both of them.....

Heinrich Prinz von Hessen (Enrico D'Assia) Mafaldas son and brother to Landgraf Moritz von Hessen wrote a book about his childhood in Italy, his Hessen-Kassel family and wartime experience and of his mother & families destiny.

Der kristallene Lüster

It is written in german and I don't think that there is a english translation published.

The red builiding in the bachground is VILLA POLISSENA, the house Mafalda di Savoia owned in Rome near their Parents' home, Villa Savoia.

Villa Polissena still belongs to the Hessen Family.

You can really see a resemblance there between the two Mafaldas. I hadn't noticed it in other photos posted on another thread. Where is the location of the mantle?
