I bought it today in Moscow by about 530 dollars in the biggest shop . It was the  last one.
It  took a lot of time to prepare this book in order to gather the information of the participants. I think that this is the most valuable part. Printing is very good too.
( in the old book store downstairs the price of this book was amount to 2000 dollars , so I felt that I got big discount)

It was my suggestion that someone scan the pictures and post them. I know I can't and I am sure others can not afford the $400+ price.

I agree. I would like to see some of the pictures too, but there is no way I am spending all that money. Maybe just scanning some of the rarer images and/or some favorites would be nice.

I could never afford to pay that much for a book. No matter how much I want it.

Can somone who owns the book, please, ( on my knees), please scan some of the photos from the book.

As an update for the adventures of buying this magnificent set,  Uniquepresents seemed to have bit the dust ! I never recieved it from them but was able to have the charge removed from my credit card as they were VERY unco-operative  with the bank investigation. I ended up buying it directly from the publisher in St. Petersburg and collected it on my  recent visit. I would almost say it is worth having it shipped. This is a HEAVY  package to carry-on an airplane. For anyone still interested, www.antiq.info still advertises it on their website. They also publish a beautiful magazince on Russian antiques, both in English & Russian.  Olga Tretyakova is a wonderful person to deal with there.

I looked on the website, but can't seem to find a price anywhere.....I also can't read Russian so that complicates things a bit...help please!

Hmmm, it comes up in English  when you click the link I posted.  The site is bi-lingual in any case.

Hi Robert

Sorry to hear that you had similar problems to me with Uniquepresent.com, as I said before I was very surprised when the book actually turned up.  However, the paperwork that came with it was from the Russian website so as you say it is probably better to order it direct.

My husband and I moved house last week and whilst unpacking my books I started flicking through the Costume Ball book again and had forgotten just how fabulous it is.

I hope everyone has a wonderful, and peaceful, Christmas.

Annette

Other than a visit to St. Petersburg,  I would suggest a visit to Eurohistory.com. Arturo has  resources to find almost anything.  I notice he has cards from the albums.
And NO- I do not get anything in return for this recommendation ! [He does not even know I made it].

Hi Bobby,

Thanks for the recommendation!

I am in contact with the publisher in Moscow and they can send us copies of the Winter Ball book, which is quite fabulous I might add, but we need to have at least 10 books ordered.  I have compiled a list of 7 clients who want it.  If anyone is interested in being added to the list, simply email me at books@eurohistory.com and we can go from there.

And yes we do sell a nice 25 postcard-set of the various Romanovs who went to the Ball...quite a lovely set of large postcards!

Believe me when I say that  'Everything Arturo has is wonderful'  !

The postcards especially are most lovely.

Hope you will consider gaining them.

I know that you could buy the book directly from the Publishing House which is in the Petersburg.
Its e-mail: info@antiq.info
They have  also a big  regular magazine named " Russian Antique"
