Hi Bobby,

Thanks for the recommendation!

I am in contact with the publisher in Moscow and they can send us copies of the Winter Ball book, which is quite fabulous I might add, but we need to have at least 10 books ordered.  I have compiled a list of 7 clients who want it.  If anyone is interested in being added to the list, simply email me at books@eurohistory.com and we can go from there.

And yes we do sell a nice 25 postcard-set of the various Romanovs who went to the Ball...quite a lovely set of large postcards!

Arturo Beéche

I know that it's been months since someone posted on this thread, but I can't help but wonder what became of this--I'm still looking for the book after all. Has anyone ordered this recently?

As an update for the adventures of buying this magnificent set,  Uniquepresents seemed to have bit the dust ! I never recieved it from them but was able to have the charge removed from my credit card as they were VERY unco-operative  with the bank investigation. I ended up buying it directly from the publisher in St. Petersburg and collected it on my  recent visit. I would almost say it is worth having it shipped. This is a HEAVY  package to carry-on an airplane. For anyone still interested, www.antiq.info still advertises it on their website. They also publish a beautiful magazince on Russian antiques, both in English & Russian.  Olga Tretyakova is a wonderful person to deal with there.

I also never received any responses from Uniquepresents, after a number of e-mails which did go through to them. It seems that I shall have to purchase my copy in St. P like you but will post it back since I will be going onto Finland and then Singapore after Russia.

Robert could you please provide me the exact address in St. P?

Thanks in anticipation,

Margarita

I have been in contact with the publishers.  They can ship to me at Eurohistory, but we need to order a minimum of 12 copies.  Almost all the  ERHJ subscribers who went on my Russian tour last year have signed up for a copoy of the b ook, as did several other people.  I have 9 copies allocated, including mine.  We need three more so we can order the book.

You can always email me about it directly...

Less than that...but of course the worsening exchange with the US dollar does not help us one bit!

I paid a lot less than that ! But of course, I bought it in St.Petersburg and hauled it home myself.  The shipping charge, at least is justified as it is a very heavy load to carry.

I have one of these books now -- and it's fabulous!  I've posted a review page on kingandwilson for anyone who is interested in a closer look:

Excellent review, Penny. I have the set- I brought it back from St.Petersburg myself after a very unstaisfactory transaction with an American "distributor". You are quite right. It is worth the investment. One of the treasures in my collection.

I would still love to buy this book, but the fact that I can't read Russian presents a real obstacle. I wish that the link had an english counterpart.  :'(

Which link Ortino?  This one from the bottom of the review:

http://ball.russianantique.com/

is in English.  The book is in English -- and my review is certainly in English.  I'm confuzzed...  :-\

The link you posted is, as you stated, in English. When you click on the BUY NOW option however, the next part is completely in Russian:

I get you. Sorry I didn't notice that page was in Russian  I think the best thing to do is just drop an email in English to Olga Tretyakova -- or telephone them and ask for her.  She's very cool and will help you get the book ordered.
