Katherine at the table of young Prince Faysal of Iraq :

It was taken at a garden party given in the boy king's honor at Hurlingham, England, on July 25 1946.

She could have become a decent actress. But she was shy of the limelight.

Well, she didn't go to Hollywood with that goal. It was a brief visit during a world tour (alias--Ms Constantine) she was taking. She stopped there for a short time, telling the press she wanted to see a movie studio and saying at the end that she hoped to come back some day. She seemed to really enjoy it but I don't think she harbored any ideas about becoming an actress. There was a story in the papers about how she was escorted onto a closed film set where Loretta Young and Charles Boyer were filming a love scene. It distracted them to the point where they kept blowing their lines. The director finally had the princess and her group removed. She was gracious and apologetic about it.

He was actually KING Faisal II of Iraq. He became king upon his father's death in 1938. He was under a regency by his uncle.
The picture is especially sweet and sad. Knowing what would happen to him in 1958 at 23 years old.

She does not seem  so shy to me. One does not go on a  "World Tour" to go unnoticed, especially if a princess.

She was shy and when one ask her questions, she refer to others than answers them directly like her sister Helen.

Nothing wrong with being shy. Much easier for people around you to live with than the brash and OTT.

Big difference between passive and assertive. Katherine's sister Helen was nice but could be assertive without being brash and OTT.

I think Irene was too devoted to her sister Helen. Queen Marie of Romania referred to her "Sitta's shadow".
