Tatiana's attitude?

The New York Times Perspective is very interesting. The enduring public profile of Tatiana's warwork is futher demonstrated by Pasternak's novel Dr. Zhivago. Lara goes to the front as a nurse in a hospital train sponsored by "The Tatiana Relief Committe" - the translator's footnote stated - Tatiana Nikolayevna (1897-1918), second daughter of Tsar Nicholas II.

Yes, Tatiana was very well-known and popular by the time of the war. In a book I have of 1915 called The Russia of To-day, there are a couple of pages written about her and her work, which I posted somewhere ages ago. Olga barely gets a look in.

I find it interesting that Tatiana was more often mentioned when Olga did the same sort of work for her own committee and was present at public functions, etcetera; I recall reading on some Russian website that I had translated thanks to translate.ru Alexandra writing to Nicholas about Olga's work and how it made her less shy and whatnot.  She probably didn't worry much about Tatiana--and I'm sure since Tatiana was generally considered more attractive than Olga that could have been a reason why she was mentioned more often.  Tatiana really did some good stuff with her committee though, it's very admirable.

Interesting that today Tatiana Nicolaevna stay the most popular and loved of the 4 sisters in Russia. I know a russian author who just loved her, and wrote something as a short novel about her. Even in the orthodox world, she is perhaps the most venerated of the sisters. There is a miraculous icon of the Family, I read a brochure about it. People, who saw it for some reasons pay more attention to Tatiana in their relations.

Tatiana wasn't grumpie ore mean, she was a very nice, smart and kindly person. But on photo's not much of the girls smiled (Maria smiled much). But Tatiana was i think very serious, that is maybe the problem. But okay, that's my opinion...Greetings!

I think Tatiana had a good attitude, I think she was responsible and did her duty. She could be reserved, or distant but that was just her personality. She could be described as haughty, but I think she was just being Imperial.  Like her mother, her demeanor could be misinterpreted. She does not have much you can relate to her today about.

I think Tatiana is a serious person but she can be jolly like her sisters, and a very matured in spite of her young age. she takes charge and always has the initiative in everything.

Everybody had good opinions on Tatiana's attitude. I believe Tatiana may well have had the best attitude of her sisters.

Tatiana was extremely tall, beautiful AND a daughter of a tsar. That must have intimidated people. I think Tatiana was essentially a very well balanced person, which was why she was both Alexandra and Nicholas's favourite.

Actualy I´ve heard several versions about which daughter was Nikolai´s favourite. Sophie Buxhoeveden wrote it was Tatiana. But there are accounts mentioning Olga and Maria. So I came to a conclusion that Nikolai wasn´t making differences between his daughters.

I agree -- she was Aleksandra's favorite daughter. They were close to each other. But IMO, it was hard to make difference between the children, especially for N&A. Olga looked like Tsar.

I don't believe either of them had a real favorite child. Think of how close-knit they were and how each of them had such contrasting qualities. There's a reason there's no definite answer from any sources. They loved them each in different ways and had different ways of being close to their parents.

You've a good point there, Holly. Aside from that, no  close friend or relative of Nicky and Alix can tell for sure who their favorite is because the two of them don't mind that topic. They also had a very favorable family relationship because the parents give equal attention to their children (but we all know Alexei is the most cared for because he had hemophilia;it's just ok with his sisters)
