Yes, there's nothing odd at all. It was just the wedding party. There was no reason for Duchess to be in the photo. All of the bridal attendants were unmarried--not like today where you might have married women as well. I don't think Henry was one of George's supporters--there were just his 2 older brothers with David as best man. I think Bertie and Henry both just had 2 brothers as well. The women always had a lot more attendants.

Happy to report that Eurohistory.com's newest title, MY FIFTY YEARS: The Memoirs of Prince Nicholas of Greece, is now available for purchase both through us at books@eurohistory.com, as well as through AMAZON.COM at:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0977196135/qid=1141246657/sr=11-1/ref=s/102-8269948-8415322

The book has 348 pages, plus 43 pages of glossy photos, including 83 marvelous images of Prince Nicholas and his family, his parents and in-laws, his daughters and their descendants, as well as myriad other Romanov, English and Danish royal relations. The book also includes 10 family trees!

The original volume was published in 1926.  I have annotated it and added four chapters, not included in the original version.  One chapter brings Prince Nicholas's life to an end, while following the life of his wife, Grand Duchess Helen Vladimirovna of Russia, to her death in 1957.  The remaining three chapters are dedicated to the couple's three beautiful daughters and their descendants until present time: Princess Olga (Princess Paul of Yugoslavia), Princess Elisabeth (Countess zu Törring-Jettenbach); and Princess Marina (The Duchess of Kent).

It is a wonderful addition to your Greek royal collection!

Enjoy the reading...

I was wondering if Princess Elena and her husband had several palaces and entertained lavishly in Greece, like her mother in Russia.

I read in Princess Alice's biography that she had quite a large jewelry collection and a Persian cat, both of which was rescued for her by her brother-in-law Prince Christophoros (when exactly this happened I cannot remember).

Yes a gift from the Romanovs. I forgot it was her father or her cousin Nicholas II's gift...I guess it must be her parent's gift.  ;)

I agree too!

Where did Princess Elena find herself during the Revolution? Did she remain in Greece after her brother-in-law and his family were exiled to Switzerland? I think I remember reading in Princess Alice's biography that the Greeks (or the government) were hostile to King Alexandros's uncles being in Greece with him after his family left.

Mandie,

Please do not post photos from George Tantzos' book -- most of those photos are now in my collection (and subject to copyright, of course.)

The answers you seek can be found inside MY FIFTY YEARS: The Memoirs of Prince Nicholas of Greece, which has been republished by Eurohistory with four chapters more than the original 1926 version.

The Nichloas Palace, who gave/ built this palace as wedding gift for Helen and Nichloas?

Where did Helen and Nichloas live during their exile?

The Nicholas palace was a wedding gift from Tsar Nicholas II to his two first cousins, Nicholas of Greece and Helen of Russia.

In  exile Prince and Princess Nicholas of Greece resided in Switzerland and France.

More information on them and their daughters can be found in MY FIFTY YEARS: The Memoirs of  Prince Nicholas of Greece, which I edited and annotated earlier this year.  The book was published by Eurohistory.com, March 2006.
