You're welcome Gabriella. :-)

indeed Eric, even her descendants today have good looks, her great-grandaughter the Archduchess Sophie of Austria (now the Princess of Windisch-Grätz) model for many years.

Yes good genes. I think mostly from her father and husband's side.

Ellen was quite smug about her daughters looks compared to those of her sister-in-law Ducky's.

Not to mention her mother Helen,Princess Alexandra,Lady Gabriella Windsor,Princess Elisabeth of Yugoslavia or Catherine Oxenberg...

They all have that kind of "cold beauty" within themselves...just like Helen Vladimirovna had, although her temper was very fiery ;P

yes I agree, but i think Archduchess Helen's daughters the late Archduchess Elisabeth and the Princess of Windisch-Grätz were the loveliest in my opinion.

the Archduchess Sophie- the Princess of Windisch-Grätz as a young woman (photo from "The Inheritors of Alexander the Great")

lovely photo, my favorite of her. Im not really into "today's royals" but i do find her to be really pretty.

They are a great artistic and beautiful family. I read Wooley (Countess Toerring) was the brains in the family. Not much is known about her opinions and beliefs.

Me neither...I somehow don't like so much speaking about today's royals as it seems that they don't have that something which would make them more interesting ;) Even when they want to be grand, they often look ordinary...of course, with few exceptions, like Sophie, for example :P

In this photo reminds me of Catherine Oxenberg at the time when she played Amanda...

Imo,the best looking is/was Archduchess Helen...she was always so modest, but at the same time so gracious, dignified and not "pushy" or commercial about her beauty-one could never see her taking photos for the magazines etc...Imo,she has what every Grande Dame has...

Yes. Both Sophie & Catherine actually had Nordic looks from the Danish connection like Prince Philip.

The ruby parure was left to Prince Nicholas of Greece by his mother Queen Olga of Greece. It seems Helen got to wear it before it was given to their daughter Princess Olga of Yugoslavia. Olga wore it to see Hitler in Germany, so this photo must sate before that.

Marina wore the tiara, too.
any news that the tiara was maybe from GD Ella?

Ella might have a similar one, but I think this one was the one that belonged to Queen Olga. Marina might have borrowed it from her sister Olga.

"The flexible Greek Ruby Parure includes a tiara in an olive wreath motif, with berry-colored rubies and diamond leaves. It belonged to Queen Olga of Greece, who likely received at least parts of the parure from her husband King George I. (Some also cite her Russian roots – she was born Grand Duchess Olga Constantinova of Russia – as a possible source for the rubies.) Olga left the rubies to her son, Prince Nicholas, and they were worn by his daughter, Princess Olga of Yugoslavia. Olga’s sister Princess Marina, the Duchess of Kent, borrowed the rubies at least once. Eventually they came back to the main Greek royal family and were worn by Queen Frederika, consort of King Pavlos I. The rubies were among the jewels Frederika turned over to Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark when she married Frederika’s son King Constantine I, and the set has been worn by Anne-Marie ever since. These days, she prefers a shortened version of the necklace." --The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendour

The Badens, also descended from a Greek princess, have an almost identical one. The laurel wreath makes sense for Greek princesses, after all.
