How does one go about research their russian roots? I am looking for information on family around 1910 to 1920.

Family were Cossacks from Don region.

Hi Richard,

You might try City Hall in the relevant town in Russia. If he was a Don Cossack (which era?), there may be a few survivors or their families who can help you, depending on where you live.

Check out online sites ...  

There are a few recent Russian language publications written by and about Don Cossacks.

There are a lot of Don Cossacks descendants! My great grand father was a Don Cossack...his father was tha ataman of their little sotnia Oust-Kapiorskaya[Kapierskaya??]...
