Marc:
Does anyone have nice colour portrait of Princess Thyra of Denmark, later Crown Princess von Hannover and sister of Empress Marie and Queen Alexandra?

Marc:
I have searched everywhere but I just found grey pictures!  :(

I know this might not be much help, but I have seen  a color portrait of Thyra as a teenager (on a documentary), and she had the most beautiful gray-blue eyes. Her hair was a light brown. She was never seen as a beauty though, but anyone pales next to the beautiful Alexandra! Queen Victoria described her as having "a flat nose with the most horrible chin and mouth I've ever seen." She had what could only be described as a receding chin, and I think because her teeth were large, it gave her mouth an awkward look.

I recall seeing pictures of the three sisters together (when I first became interested in Royalty) and finding it hard to believe Thyra was the youngest, as she let her hair go gray when Alix and Dagmar continued to dye theirs (or wear hair pieces) up until their deaths.

Her mouth is what always threw me off about her looks--she did have lovely eyes. She strike one as the least vain (probable reason she didn't care about her hair) and that could be why she (IMO) aged the best. She didn't try to hide the signs of aging behind heavy makeup, etc....

kmerov:
Sorry,no portrait, but im just curius about this picture... Is Thyra wearing some sort of widow cap? An not the best picture...
