Don't worry about it.  :) I just decided to merge the 2 so the information would be gathered in one place and make it easier.

His sons:

Stephan 1903 -1908 Born in Cetinje, died in Cetinje.
Stanislav 1905 - 1907 Born in Cetinje, died in Cetinje.
Michael 1908 - 1986. Born in Podgorica, died in France. -- his son is Nikola.

It is so terrib young children died so early. I will look for some informations.

Who is Alice? Do you mean Anna or maybe Xenia perhaps?

By the way Marc, you seem to be our expert in Montenegro so to speak....jolly useful and a blessing for us all!

I assume you have visited Bar and wonder of you could describe the lay out of the Royal Castle and Danilo's palace at Topolica and your impressions of the place. I always assumed that there are two palaces at Bar is that right?

Furthermore, I am under the impression that the palace at Niksic appears far more impressive then the Royal Palace at Cetinje, based on phototgraphs that is, and wondered what you or anyone else thought of them in comparison.

I am curious about whether Nicholas and the family made annual trips to stay in Niksic, like QV did going from London to Windsor to Osborne to Balmoral etc, and the Tsar doing a similar thing going from St Petersburg to Tsarskoye Selo to Peterhof to Livadia etc. Do you know if Nicholas had a customary migrational calendar in place where the court moved between Cetinje, Bar and Niksic?

Sorry, such a lot of questions but I am rather fascinated by the history of the place and its amazing RF!

Well,I am not so much an expert...I was in Montenegro last time few years ago...I have seen palace in Bar but it wasn't in that good state at that time...unfortunatly not in Niksic...first time I have heard about King's residence there..he had summer residence in Rijeka Crnojevica city which is near Cetinje on the Skadar lake..,later it was used as a fabric...

I mean Princess Alice of Montenegro...she was Austrian born wife of Prince Peter of Montenegro...and this may be confusing because in Serbia and in Montenegro the wives of Princes were always known by their name...so,she was Princess Alice of Montenegro instead Princess Peter of Montenegro which you can find in some other countries...

You were right about palace in Niksic...don't know much about it except that today it is used as a museum and a library...

Here is how it looked like:

So Alice is the one born Violet Wegner is that right?

Sorry I was rather confused!

I love the pictures of Niksic...it looks far more impressive than the Royal Palace at Cetinje...I wonder why King Nicholas built such an impressive palace there instead of rebuilding the palace in Cetinje in a more impressive style. Oh well anyway many thank for your help Marc.

Don't be so soppy...you are not an idiot at all!!!!

I still ponder about the palace at Niksic! I wish I had visited Montenegro when I was in Albania...but back then the boarder was closed and it would have been very complicated! Ho..Hum! But anyway... at least now things are a little calmer in the region.
