Wasn't Shyvbzik buried here? Does any one have any pictures of his grave?

Shvybzik was not buried on the island.   The dogs buried on the Children's Island were Nicholas II's dogs Voron, Zhilka and Iman along with Alexandra Feodorovna's terrier, Eira.

Since the Children's Pond was refilled with water, it is impossible to visit the Island - unless you wish to swim.   Only in winter when the Pond is sufficiently frozen, is it possible to access the Island.

This message is for Greg King, or anyone out there who might be able to tell me how to order Atlantis Magazine from the beginning through the current issue.  I am particularly interested in the four-part series that Greg wrote on how the Romanovs have been depicted in film.

Please bear with me; I am a new member and am not used to participating in web chats....!!  :)

Also, for the benefit of anyone out there who is looking for The Fall of Eagles on DVD, it is available from Amazon.co.uk, or from individual video outlets in the UK.  One cautionary note:  a portion of the episode, "Dearest Nicky," is not included in the DVD set.  The liner notes indicate that although the BBC thoroughly searched its archives as it was developing the DVD, it could not locate that one episode for inclusion in the DVD series.  I just wanted to let you all know that.  With that caveat, the BBC did a wonderful job with the DVD; the clarity and sound are wonderful, and the series is as terrific as I remember from watching it with my father in 1974....!!  Thanks for any help you can provide on securing the back and current issues of Atlantis Magazine!!

In 1994 I was in Tsarskoe Selo and took a walk from the Catherine Palace to the AP.  I was shocked to find the place deserted, with the gate wide open.  I walked with a friend right up to the front left corner (Nicky & Alix's rooms!) and took pictures of the outside.  I would have loved to explore the grounds and look for the Children's Island, etc., but didn't dare.  (This was years before the museum opened).   From this discussion of the Children's Island and the water being drained at one time, it sounds as if you can just walk around wherever you want.   This is hard to believe, especially given the fact that a military group (Baltic Fleet?) still occupies parts of the palace.   Can anyone give me the facts on how it is now at the AP and grounds/Children's Island regarding accessibility?  Maybe I should be bolder next time!

Hello everyone!

For a long time I have been looking for information about the tsar family playhouse and now I have found this site with lot of info.

I have since 1990 been doing research about children´s playhouses in Sweden. Are you interested in my work you can visit www.lekstugearkivet.se

From a visitor to the Alexander palace I have got a picture of the playhouse on Children´s island. I will use it in my next book about playhouses to come in the future. Just now I am gathering photographic material and therefore wonder if it is possible, free of charge, to use anyone of the pictures on this website. If so being the case please send the photo to me by the e-mail on my website, mentioned above. Give me also the name of the photograph and the year the photo was taken. The publisher will of course have a say about which pictures to use and they have told me that the pictures shall not be less than 300dpi.

Cathy, you have visit the Osborn house on the Isle of Wight. In my first book I have included information about it, but I had no pictures I could used as an illustration back than. Please if you are interested and have some pictures from this playhouse and if you are willing to let me use them free of charge I would be most grateful. 300dpi is the smallest size and of course I need your full name and the year the pictures was taken to meet the copyrights.  Please use my website e-mail.

Back in the 60thies and 70thies my husband and I lived in the US for some years. Today I see USA as my second homeland. Therefore I plan to include some beautiful American old time children´s playhouses. I know of some but I have not yet started my research and I have no American photos so far. - So if you know of an extra beautiful and old playhouse for children, please let me know.

I will now with care read all the materials on this discussion bord.

Yours,
eval

WOW!! My mouth literally dropped when I saw that last picture! It's so up close and fantastic!
What camera do you have?

It's sad to notice the trend of Graffiti/Vandilism on your recent pictures

Fabulous photos. Thank you again Scott.

Strange that the graffiti is foreign. Tourists perhaps?
