He was way more sexual than Missy, and had a number of affairs.

i think neither Ferdinand nor Marie were as sexual as they are said to have been, there is too much gossip on this >:(

ferdinand had a few affairs. but he was discreet and he wasn't the typical 'mistress dominated' king that his son was, for example...

King Ferdinand I was the moust loyal king of Romania. In the WW1 he fight against his native country ,Germany, beacuse he knew how to defend the interes of his new country,Romania.
Some historics sayd if king Carol I didn't die in 1914,Romania participed at the war helping Germany, and not Russia.

i don't know, i don't think carol would have had the power to fight the natural tendency of his country to join the antante. however, he wouldn't have been as cooperative as ferdinand and i'm sure things would have been different. he was a much stronger personality and his wife supported him in his decision while ferdinand was more flexible and had queen marie for support in his decision to join the antante.

Kaiser Wilhelm II. had Nando excommunicated by the Pope Benedict XV. as a consequence of this "betrayal" of his German roots.

nando was excomunicated long before the first world war because he allowed his children be raised in the orthodox religion. queen marie arranged for the pope to forgive him shortly before his death.
