The letters were in the pocession of The Romanian Archievs, also her mothers letters to Missy is going to be published soon in a book. They are actually discovering that it is interesting and pick up on it. The Royal Families are one big soap opera filled with divorces (Louise of Belgium, Luise of Tuscany, Victoria Melita...), Affairs (Missy has quite a few of them, Edward VII (nicknamed "the caresser"), Tsar Alexander II...), Homosexuality ("Ernie" of Hesse, "Foxy" Ferdinand of Bulgaria, Grand Duke Constantine of Russia...) and secret children (Grand Duchess Anastasia Michailovna, Mathilde Countess Trani and her sister Queen Maria Sofia of Naples)...

Well., somewhere i cant remember someone said that one, one of Barbu Stirbey`s daughters  was confused with Princess Ileana. We didnt have a picture of the girls and now, i found one big and clear of Barbu and his daughters. I wonder who was the woman of the anecdote

I think it was me that mentioned this - it's something Coburg/Rumanian historian John Wimbles told me about three years ago, so I don't know which daughter it was, though I can ask. To judge from this picture, I'd assume it was the youngest one on the right at the back!

I seem to remember reading that Princess Nadje remained in Romania and died in sad circumstances but did her daughters emigrate like their aunt Marthe Bibesco or was imprisonment and a labour camp like their cousin Princess Valentina Ghika (Marthe's daughter) their fate?

What became of the Stirbey daughters after 1948? I read that some direct descendants of him have grapevines in Romania. I will look for the interview where i found that. Maybe there we can find more clues about what happened with them.

Firstly, we are not off topic. The question about Ileana's resemblance to Stirbey's daughter DOES fit to the whole discussion. Two more posts about Stirbey's daughters don't spoil the discussion either.

Please read the book "Dear Missy". The letters revealed that Mignon's father was Zizi. This is now a fact. Very interesting reading.

Words are just words and resemblance is stronger than that. Mignon looked like Nando and even her kids  got the big ears.

In a moment of rage, anxiety in a "delicate state"  can be said a lot of stuff.
