I've heard it mentioned that there are a lot of different versions of the 1913 formal portraits of the Imperial Family.  I would really love to see all the versions people have especially since this series is very special to me as this particular photo below is what sparked my interest in the Romanovs.  Thank you everyone!

I love these photos! I have seen many of the different poses on various pages here, but it would be fun to have them all together. There is a great variety to the photos, especially the lesser known poses. This has always been been, to me,  an iconic series of photos. These are the photos that define the last of the Romanovs, that are their image to me.

Great photo's everyone!  I also have to agree Margarita, I'm quite partial to the big pair myself, they were so photogenic.

Yeas I think it was tercenary ball in english(wich was held 6.March in 1913) In the poster is a portrait of the first Romanov tsar: Mihail Romanov and the latest: Nikolai II Romanov

For what I know, St. Petersburg society  were still  having balls after  1903. The balls stoped  during the war, and after the war, seems like there was no more interest for  great glamorous balls anymore... and no other ball compared  with the splendour of the 1903 ball... that is why  some people say it was "The last Ball"...

What the last poster said is correct. I am sure they had balls in 1913, as it was an important year for the Romanov dynasty. None was as splendid as the 1903 ball, though. I have never see a poster for any ball then, in 1913, but I'm sure it might exist.

I didn't say that there were no balls at all after 1903, but it was the last really big ball.
And I think a ball for which they make even posters would be big :-/
