Tzar Ferdinand of Bulgaria and his family

I have a morbid interest in murdered royals. I know very little on Prince Kyrill, brother of Boris III who was regent for his nephew Simeon II and was finally executed by Communist forces in Sofia in 1945. Can anyone forward any information of his personal life, his political actions..anything?

Any idea where he IS buried? I saw his brother's burial place, I guess his sisters are buried abroad, I think one married a Wurttemburg prince, and the other died a spinster. Any photo of Kyrill?

Kyril's grave was desecrated. As was the king's.
His remains were "scattered".
Of the royal remains, only the King's heart was left hidden in a monastery. Queen Giovanna returned to Bulgaria to re-inter the heart memorial, after the fall of the Soviet regime and the destruction of the Zhivkov tomb in Sofia.

The heart must contained in the tomb I saw (though it was big enough to house half the Bulgarian royals!)... I didn't know that his heart was the only bit that remained... does anyone know anything about his death? They say Hitler killed him.....

There is a lot of gossip, but nothing  proved. My friends in Bulgaria study the former monarchy, but for political reasons and rarely come up with anything prinatble on a forum that is personal.

I have always felt deep sympathy for her.  Tsar Ferdinand made it clear he wanted a second wife" who would not expect or receive affection."  How she was talked into it is beyond me.  She must have been desperate.  I think I read somewhere that Grand Duchess Maria Palovna the elder was involved in the arrangement.  It could be she felt her propects where so slim to start with that she jumped at the chance.

I think Maria Pavlovna's mother was born Princess Reuss(I have to chek)...I read she was very respected by the rest of the royal family!As far as Eleonore is conserned I would like so much to see any colour portrait of her,if someone has it,please post it!
