Maria was engaged to Peter II and was the daughter of Menshikov. They say Prince Fedor Dolgoruky married her in exile out of love, certainly he loved her. When she and Menshikov died of small pox in Siberia her sister Alexandra and her brother Alexander were called back by Empress Anna. They had been exiled by Peter II. Her sister then married the brother of Biron, Gustav, and her brother married Elizabeth Golitsin. They had four children. Alexandra  died in childbirth along with her child.
