She was stunning – no doubt about it!

I have read her private diaries, which were loaned to me by her descendants...some very interesting things.

This ruby parure was sold to Queen Frederica of Greece and now worn by her daughter-in-law Queen Anne Marie of Greece. I read somewhere that the necklace was reset.

Not reset...shortened by Queen Anne Marie who also sometimes detaches the pendants.

Thanks. She seemed to wore it differently than Queen Olga or Princess Paul.

When she married she became Princess of Yugoslavia and here the term "Princess Paul" and this term Princess "husbands name" does not exist at all, unlike in Britain where we have different rules and "Princess Michael" as an example...Here when a girl marries a Prince she is ALWAYS known just by HER name,so she was always just Princess Olga!

Well...Olga's mother was known as HRH Princess Nicholas of Greece (and not Princess Helen of Greece) and so was her aunt Princess Andrew of Greece !

Maybe they were known, but they were not Yugoslavian subjects or subjects of it's ruling family, unlike Olga when she married Prince Paul...from that moment she is under their law!

Under Serbian law or by any Karadjordjevic family law, such term does not exist,so one may use it,but it just does not exist...if you are princess of one country you follow it's ruling family laws...

That would be the same like calling Princess Michael of Kent=Princess Marie-Christine of Kent as that she would be if Windsor family law is the same like Serbian...but as she is the subject of Windsor family she is even here in the press called Princess Michael as she is legally that!

In Serbia/Yugoslavia every Princess(married to a Prince) is known by JUST her female name...

For example,Barbara Mueller who is married to Prince Vladimir is not "Princess Vladimir",but only Princess Barbara...

Lapsus calami, wanted to say Brigitte Mueller and mixed her with the name of Prince Paul's daughter in law Barbara...

Anyway, they are both Princess Brigitte and Princess Barbara, not Princess Vladimir of Princess Alexander...

I think it started in Greece and Russia when one marries, one takes the name of one's husband. Princess Nicholas of Greece's mother was also Grand Duchess Vladimir of Russia and her daughter-in-law Grand Duchess Cyrill of Russia.

Yes,that was very often the case, but here such thing dos not exist and in Karadjordjevic family law it is stated that every female that enters the family will bear her own name with the title of princess...

So,saying "Princess Paul" instead of Princes Olga is just like saying Princess Marie-Christine instead of "Princess Michael"...

Yes. That is what Olga was known to the outside world.

Yes,I am just saying that it's not a correct form of calling her because it doesn't exist in the land whose princess she was...

In our language this form would look ridiculous, doesn't have any concrete meaning and could lead to numerous funny "doublespeak" discussions and that's why Karadjordjevic family statute is recognizing princesses just in form of their own name with the title of Princess...

It is also interesting to add that by the old statute of Karadjordjevic family Prince Arsen and his descendants were the only one included in "royal family" while King still had some other remaining cousins(Princes Bozidar and Alexa) from elder line of dynasty who were excluded as members of "royal" family...

It is also interesting that by the old statute family members used different titles,so Kings sons were known by the title of "Kraljevic" which means "son of the King",other members of elder line who were not sons of the King were Princes with the style of HRH while Prince Paul and his descendants(members of junior line) were styled "Fürst" and "Fürstin" just with the style of HH...

However, this was later changed and all members of Karadjordjevic family have title of Prince/Princess and are styled as HRH...

Very interesting information. I think most books used both Princess Paul or Princess Olga of Yugoslavia or Serbia. Princess Michael of Kent said she was called Princess Michael of Kent because she was not born Royal, so she took her husband's title in a way.
