Well...I am not punishing you for holding a different view than mine. Perhaps you are right about Toria too. But my view is that without much evidence to back it up, it did not hold much water in adiscussion that is based upon facts and evidence that is available. Also I did not hold the relatives s card to dispel what you believe. You have your right to believe in whatever you believe, while I have mine. I guess I too fall into the catagory of pitying "Poor Toria" since that seems vto be the family's verdict on her. Just because she was unmarried did not make her boring. In fact she was quite a jokester and her daily phone calls to her brother made him laugh and forget the cares of the world for awhile. George V was genuinely distrought when Toria passed away and died soon after. She to me is a charecter who could offered so much more, if only circumstances have been different.

What a lovely painting ! It look like something out of the 18th century...kind of romantic painting.

It is lovely - thanks GDE - I have to say though I wouldn't have known it was Louise and Toria if it hadn't been posted here!

King George V welcomming his brother in-law King Haakon of Norway at King's Cross, in 1921: (left to right) Princess Victoria (Toria), King George V, King Haakon, Queen Maud and Prince Olav. The King of Norway and Prince Olaf came to London in December 1921, Queen Maud was allready there.

Lovely painting indeed GDElla, thank you fore posting!

More yummy pictures...many thanks Luc, Ella and RN you're so kind to share with us all as always!

Even in 'little' Louis like heels, Toria was noticeably taller than Georgie and Maud. I am so glad that the general direction of this thread had been restored to something akin to cordiality and a general consensus to beg to differ on the direction in which members wish to go in exploring Toria's life. I really do hope that Frances Dimond will perhaps provide us with more details of Toria's life and character in her next book which I believe is to be a bio of Queen Alexandra's life.

Yes. The photo shows Queen Maud in a more up-to-the minute dress than Toria. Maud seemed to have inheirited QA's flair for clothes. It is interesting too to see David standing close to his aunt, as it seem to signify his affirmity to her.

Except that's not David, it's Maud's son Olav.

Dearies,

My view of Cousin Toria is that I truly love her. Altough some call her an old spinster or that maybe that her life was wasted I truly hope that someone of us would go to the Windsor Archieves hoping to find enough information to publish a book about her.

I think that she has written many letters during her lifetime and maybe a diary. She had a life of traveling to many countries meeting her uncles, aunts and cousins and other Royals.

I truly think that if someone goes to the archives and do a serious investigation about her life, that you maybe can find information about her and those around her that knowbody know for now.

A very good idea. It is always an exciting project to rescue a historic charecter and provide a new spin on something that had been deemed not interesting enough to study. I hope someone would take that up.

Yes. She was too...although I don't think Thyra was too keen on it.
