In St. Petersburg, i think that it´s in the court yard of the Marble Palace, there is a fabulous satatue of Alexander III riding a horse. The figure of the Tzar impressed me, he looks so strong and powerfull.

The poor horse seems to be crashed because of the weight of the enormous Tzar.

Has anyone have pickes of this statue???
I've seen photos of the statue & it reminds me of a photo of President William H. Taft on a horse!

On a very very old thread,  I asked about this statue and Helen and someone else provided photos and some background on this statue.

If I can find it,  I'll bring it here.

What a fantastic thread! It's amazing to see pictures of him in his youth, smiling and having fun as we are used to heard of him only about his serious side...
Does anyone know about his size and weight? (in metre if it's possible...)

He was around 190cm from memory. That is over 6 feet tall in imperial.

Neat Photos! Alexander III was not bad looking in his youth but I find him too stern and grumpy. I bet he was quite intimindating for those who had to meet him!

I certainly agree. He is remembered mainly as the stern authoritarian that he became as Tsar. To see him as a carefree young man does show a completely different side of his personality. I also love the portraits of him playing with his youngest children.

This one shows him sitting in the chair where he died, Minnie is with him.

Does anyone else think he looks like Lenin in this painting, or is that just me??

Never though that. Though now after your words I indeed can see a slight resemblance in the upper part of the face.
