Grandduchess_sofia,

Yes, that's the one. Such a loving family. I'm so sure that Tatiana gave her mother such happiness and comfort. With the pain that Alix went through, physical and emotional, it's no wonder that she doted on her family and kept so close to home. In today's world, Alix would probably be considered a smothering mother, but back then, she was raising five generous and beautiful children.

Tatiana did not smile that much in photos, but when she did she was lovely. Of course people in general did smile that much in photos back then, ''smile for the camera'' was not practiced as widely as today.

I think that person was their cousin, Princess Irina Alexandrovna, daughter of Grand Duchess Xzenia, Nicholas's sister, and Grand Duke Alexander of Russia, a cousin. She later married Prince Felix Yusupov. She was about Olga's age, born in 1895.

There never seem to be many photos of Tatiana on the web. Even at Livadia there is incredibly few compared to Olga, Maria and even Anastasia - who's photo album is not yet complete. Alot of the photos that Tatiana had were formal as well, and because it took so long to take one, they did smile!

I agree, Tatiana didn't smile often on photos. Maybe she was just shy, like her mother? By the way, you know guys, this photo: (it has already been posted here) Well, wouldn't anybody have that photo from (obviously) the same day showing Tatiana alone sitting on a chair? She's smiling on this one, I think. Thanks.
