I love Tatiana's smile!  She resembles a beautiful fairy, just like the meaning of her name..."Queen of the Fairies"

Not really.  People think that Tatiana is a corruption of Titania, which does mean "Queen of Faries".  Tatiana, Tanya, and any other versions of the name are slavic in nature and completely unrelated to Titiania.  No one I know knows exactly what Tatiana means.

Olga's name was chosen because it was an old Russian name, frequently used in the Romanov family. I believe Tatiana was named so that the big pair's names would match two of the main characters in Pushkin's novel/opera Yevgeny Onegin -- Olga and Tatiana.  ;)

I believe they were both chosen for this purpose, as Nikolai wrote in his diary?

Yep, this is true. Olga and Tatiana were named for two (main?) characters in Puskin's novel, "Yevgeny Onegin". I believe Nikolai recorded this fact in his diary.
Isn't there a famous polonaise from Yevgeny Onegin??

To be more correct the names were taken from the magnificent poem Евгений Онегин written by Russia's most revered author: Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin!

A letter from Nicholas to Queen Victoria, 12 November 1895:
The name of Olga we chose as it has already been several times in our family and is an ancient Russian name.

From the diary of Konstantin Konstantinovich, 2 June 1897:
I heard from the Tsar that his daughters are called Olga and Tatiana like Pushkin's Onegin.

it sounds like the tsar lied to Queen Victoria!

I don't think so! Remember, they had only one daughter at that time, and they were always hoping for the next child to be a boy. It probably wasn't until Tatiana came along that they considered naming *both* girls after Yevgeny Onegin characters.

I am just wondering where the photo is of Tatiana laughing.  It is where Maria is standing on a chair and some man has their can hooked under the chair. It is the only time I have ever seen Tatiana Laughing.

The man is Nicholas.  ;)

There's also this one, with her Uncle Ernie on the Standart in 1912:

Yeah, I love that photo of Nikolai and OTMA playing!
I mean, what are they actually doing?? lol
And is it Maria on the chair?? The sister next to Anastasia looks like Maria, but judging by the length of her dress compared to the one on the chair, I'd say Maria's on the chair.
