There are bunch of photos taken at the same ceremony, the GARF clearly explains that those were taken in 1914, and not in 1915, as it was believed before. I'll try to find some more info. on ceremony. Yes, Maria started wearing her hair up earlier. Maybe because she looked older and mature?
I remember that someone (maybe Kalafrana?) once in a thread about young Alix explained that the standart for girls to wear longskirts & pin up their hair was 16, but if they were tall and looked older they could do it earlier, like Alix did (it seems). So i assume this was why maria's hair was up before she was 16.
I clerarly also remember a photo of Maria taken on the deck of the Standart with her hair up - we know the last time they went on the Standart for a cruise was in 1914, the same years of the photo BlessOTMA posted. I think we can so assume that in summer 1914 Maria's hair was already up both in public and private occasions.
This is the photo i'm talking about:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/593/1914mariastandart.jpg/I can't believe her sisters wouldn't have complained..."Umm why mother is it that Maria gets to do at 15 what Tatiana and myself had to wait until 16 for?" -- Olga. The Imp I'd think would have pitched a fit as well about not being able to pin the hair up that her sister go to earlier than usual, lol.
LOL
I wonder what Olga (heading turning towards) might have been saying to her sister then...?
I was thinking of it too! Something tells me it was a moment of a "carefree and happy" Olga, the mischievous side, and TN is smiling because ON told her something funny!
