I'm born & raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I was born in Maywood, IL & raised in Wheaton, IL. I'm African-American, but I'm proud to be adopted. My dad had distant Irish ancestery (my dad's surnmame in 'Phillips') & my mother has German ancestery (her maiden name was 'Slighly'). I was living with the Phillips as far back as I can remember, 1st as a foster-child & at the age of 9 in 1998, I was finally adopted. I have an older brother, Aaron & a sister-in-law Lindsay. I've been raised in an Evangelical Christian home & I live with my mother. My father went to be with Jesus about 5 years ago (Sept. 2000) due to cancer. My mom (Sandra) is  a nurse & my dad (Timothy) was a professor of theology at Wheaton College (our local 4 year Christian college). Alumni from the college include: my brother, sister-in-law, father, & several famous people including: Kenneth & Margaret Landon (Margaret wrote the book "Anna & the King of Siam", the book that partially inspired "The King & I"), Rev. Billy Graham, Dennis Hastert, Todd Beamer (the man who was on flight 93 on Sept. 11th, 2001, that crashed into a field in Pennsylvania, after he & several others tried to take the plane back from hijackers- he was the one who said "Let's Roll") & many others.

Hi ;

I am from Keesler Air Force Base, originally [my identical twin, Bobby, was born there as well---obviouisly].
We were both adopted by an ethnically  Scots and British couple --surname of CARNES--who were American citizens.   So what am I genetically ?  Hmmmm.

Genetic parents :  Hale + Thompson = ethnic British families
I now live an hour north of 2005 hurricane-ravaged New Orleans.   But unusually enough, I long to migrate to Britain!  At this writing I am stumped as to how to deal with the logistics.

Anyway, I like this discussion forum.  Ace group, it is!

I was born in Houston, Texas, lived there till I was 12, and again from 18 to 24. Between 12 and 18, I lived in Arkansas.

Nowadays, I'm living in Arlington, Texas, near Fort Worth. Oh yeah, and I'm 34. :)

I like the Nederlands.   Charming and beautiful.

You may find it interesting to note that the Romanov
family did with Kodak Brownie no 2 cameras what
Anne Frank did with words.    The Romanov family
documented their lives in photos and Anne Frank
did the same  [1942-1944] using her diaries  [3 of themin fact].   I find a wonderful connexion between Anastasia Romanov and Anne Frank.  Both liked being the family clown and had similar personalities.  Just my opinion  ;D

Aloha all!

I am fortunate enough to live in what many people call "Paradise" -- the Hawaiian Islands -- specifically the island of Kaua'i -- which is the least developed of the major islands (and I hope it stays that way!!!).

I live on the south side of the island in a little town called Koloa, which is about 1 mile from a popular beach called Po'ipu Beach. 

I love this place very much and in fact, haven't visited the mainland for about 7 years -- no "island fever" for me!!  I'm posting a couple of pictures of the area on the south side of the island, closeby to me -- I enjoy hiking to deserted beaches that I have all to myself (well except for the odd monk seal that comes ashore to sun himself!).  There are many things that we do not have on the island (movies, theatre, good shopping, etc.) but the quality of life more than makes up for it to me!
And makes trips off-island to O'ahu a shopping adventure!!
