Hey S.O.S
I really appreciate that you wanted us to read how you got interested. However, the reason that we do have that other thread, is so that we can keep all the same discussion in one spot, and not on random parts of the board.

I would be interested into seeing this mini-series!
:)

P.s.. to get your picture to work, all you have to do was put the [/img] tag after the url.. (so... blahblah.jpg[/url])

I'd like to know more about this miniseries, too.  Is it available on video or DVD?

Welcome to the forum sailor_of_standart!
My story is similar to yours. When I read my book, I wasn't quite as interested as I was when I saw the picture of Anastasia. It is still my favorite picture of her. It haunted me for a long time. It still does. When I read what happened to them I spent the rest of my school day kind of in a trance. It was all I thought about the whole day.

Here's the pic. I think it's so haunting.

Yes it is indeed a beautiful pic of Anastasia.  She looks like her mother when Alix was young.

Bumping this one up, also.

Too bad we can't combine them into one folder.

I'm following you around with my list of links, Bear, so it won't matter so much if the threads get separated again...

I was a little kid who loved history and one of my favorite films was Fox's Anastasia. When I heard it was based on a real story I looked up online. Since then I've become fascinated by Anastasia's story and the story of her family.

My mother was a Russian major at Harvard.  She still has her old copy of Nicholas and Alexandra from that period.  My interest in the IF didn't really take off till I was 10, when I read a blurb in the local paper saying that Nicholas II and his family had been canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church.  I remembered that I had seen a book about them in my mother's library, so I went and took  N&A down from the shelf and plunged in.  From that point on I was, as they say, bitten by the Romanov bug.

Believe it or not, it was the story of Anna Anderson.  The phony Anastasia got me interested in the real thing and the rest of her family.
