The Grand Duchesses slept in the "dressingroom".  So the question remains what does the wall paper of the one have to do with the other and the whole issue of where the dismantled room is in the house? :(

Pers, you weren't missing anything, I just took a detour.

Like I said, I was just adding to other conversations in this thread.  Benard had mentioned the girl's bedroom, known as the "dressing room" and I just added another angle.  And, the wallpaper.

I don't know anything about the partly demolished room.

Penny thought the room with the fireplace in question was the dinning room.

Bernard,

I've seen this photo before, and it was described as the dining-room, just prior to the demolition in 1978.  The fireplace has been removed.  But check the ceiling decorations, especially the medallion around the light, to see if it matches other photos of the dining-room, because it might also be the bedroom used by Nicholas and Alexandra or part of the living room area...

Admin. Forum thought the Salon:

The photo on the right is not the dining room, the fixture, crown moulding and ceiling decoration are all wrong, when compared to the photo in Sokolov id'd as the dining room.  It seems to most closely match the decor of the room he identifies as one of the "salons" or living rooms.

..[in part]...

Also note the railing for hanging portraits on the photo of the dismantled room...  It stops there where the door should have been.

The comparative length of the walls with fireplaces appear different between the two images.

Allowing for the fact that the distance from which both photos were taken was not the same, it is fairly clear IMO that the two images represented here are in fact two different rooms.

So, back to topic  ;D

It was in Gibbes book and I brighten it as much as I could but the shadows were to deep to bring out any more details.  If one had the original,  the details could, probably, be pulled out with a good software.
