Not to mention the lover of Prince Louis, husband to Victoria, the eldest of Alice's daughters.
Interesting question, Bob! And don't forget the wonderful
Edward the King series, starring none other than the actor who portrayed Dr. Botkin in
N & A.
My feeling re: all these portrayals--which have the basics in common, but may differ in tone--is that we are seeing the same person from different perspectives, much as we see Nicky through the different "filters" of his family, friends, ministers, household, etc. Since I'm fascinated by Edward, I say "the more the merrier."
While on the same subject, I wrote a bit of verse some time ago for an English class (it's a particular type of verse--the name escapes me at the moment--which has four lines, the first line ending with the name of the person, and a rhyme scheme of AABB):
Edward the King, Prince of Wales
Beloved by all women, envied by all males
Gave his life over to wine, women and song.
(That is, when Mummy didn't tag along.)
I created a similar verse re: Rasputin, but that's for another time!
