I was in Schwerin last week. I took some pictures of the beautiful Schwerin castle. This is one of the most beatiful buildings I`ve ever seen!!! I immedaitely fell i love with it.As soon as I saw it I became breathless. As simple as that. I`m posting some pictures from my visit, some of the pictures are almost identical but i can`t help posting them.I will post more pictures step by step.

Did you have a chance of tour inside the castle? Is it open for visitors?

som ehistoric rooms are open to the public. the castle housed also the "landtag" - parliament of the federal state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

This castle makes one want to visit!  What is the castle used for today?

The castle houses the offices of many state administration divisions and is considered the seat of governemnt. The castle is also site of a major art collection with many important pieces making it a Class A art museum.

One can only imagine and ponder in awe of the time when the castle was home to the ducal family and Cecilie lived there. Her unusual beauty and the setting made the princiess fairy tales all come to real life. As Viktoria Luise said when she witnessed Cecilie's arrival at the Neues Palais following the engagement announcement to her brother, "...she looked like a fairy tale princess all draped in pink with a pink fur hat and muff". I am sure the townspeople of Schwerin had many enjoyable sites seeing Cecilie make her ways around the castle grounds.

She was a beautiful young woman and an adorable pretty girl.

Here an image of Cecilie with sister Alexandrine and their papa

As a young woman you can see tons of pictures in her topic at the Hohenzollern section

yes, just go to the very large thread about her and you'll be able to see that Cecilie was in a class all her own when it comes to beautiful women of royal families. Few, if any, come close to her in the physical looks department. Cases in point:

Yes. Although she lost her figure after childbearing and lost her "freshness" in later years.

The tiara originally belonged to her great grandmother Irene of Hesse,Princess Henry of Prussia.Donata's mother Barbara wore the tiara at among other events the wedding of the Current Queen of Denmark.
