Does anyone know what happened to Alix's costume from the Ball?  In particular that enormous stone (an emerald or was it a ruby, I can't remember).  What a marvelous display those costumes would be.

It was recently on display in London at the Hermitage Rooms in Somerset House. It is magnificent. The Tsars costume is in the Kremlin Collections but AF's is kept in the Hermitage Collections

The Nicky's costume is in the Kremlin, like the jewels (the biggest emerald in the world) which are in the Diamond Found.
The Alix' costume is in the Hermitage, like Xenia's,Zinaida Yusupova's,and Maria Giorgievna's.The Historical Museum keep a costume, maybe the Maria Pavlovna the Elder's one.

Does anyone know what color Xenia's gown was?  For some reason, I always picture it as a pale pink with gold trim.

BTW, did you know that one of Natalie Portman's costumes from Attack of the Clones was based on Xenia's ball ensemble?  You can really see the resemblance-especially in the concept sketch!

The Padawan's Guide.

I just thought that was interesting.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

It may very well have been pale pink, as in Kurth's book Tsar there is a picture of a fan and opera binoculars that she wore to the ball, and they are in a pale pink color.

That's right!  Now I remember!

I sometimes have "colorized" pictures and I did Xenia's gown in pink with gold beading.

The front of the golden sarafan worn by Empress Alexandra Feodorovna to the 1903 Costume Ball was edged with enormous, emerald-cut emeralds.

You can observe in modern illustrations that, at some point during intervening years, these stones have been removed from their settings.

As all of you had help me for my master, with so much kindness, I want to offer you a little gift... The following pictures are colored by myself after the gowns keeping in the museums and the memories of the time... There is an impostor: me!
I hope you will enjoy them! But please, if you want to add them in some web sites or something like that, mention my name! (Lisa from the AP Association for exemple...) ;)
