I have seen the reference to the name Tatya. I believe it was a letter or diary notation from one of the sisters. Tanya would also make sense. I will see if I can track it down. As with Marie, it's quite possible they each had a few nicknames (Masha, Mashka, Marushka).

Well, Tania is the normal diminutive of Tatiana. It would be very strange if she wasn't called that by someone, somewhere along the line.

Well it was certainly dark enough to make her look quite exotic.

While the darkness of her hair may contribute to that "exotic" look, I've always thought it was the shape of her eyes and cheekbones that made her look especially so.  IMHO

Oh yes, Tasha_R.  The eyes and facial features are the core of her exotic look, but her dark hair is the icing on the cake, so to speak.

Can some one remake the list of Tatiana’s stats, with intro, some like her temper/ (i.e. as a child she had a bit of a temper and a "big round head”, but she was passionate and warm, and don't forget charming and witty!!!)Please. Weigh at birth

LOL It was Olga who had the big, round head and the short temper! Tatiana was very reserved and most of the time managed to keep her emotions under control.

Well, Tania is the normal diminutive of Tatiana. It would be very strange if she wasn't called that by someone, somewhere along the line.

Unless she preferred Tatia...for example, there are a few diminuitives of Arianwen. My husband calls me Aria, my favourite of the nicknames, and he's the only person to do so. My German relatives call me Anna, which I don't really like. A few people call me Ari because they can't pronounce my full name, and one girl at uni even asked if she could call me Gwen. I said sure, as long as she didn't expect me to answer ('wen' is a shortened version of 'gwen'). We're planning on naming one of our girls Tatiana, but as we both hate the name Tanya, she'll probably be going by either her full name, as I do, or by Tatia.

Just my thoughts, of course.

I always thought her hair was dark brown or black.

I always heard it described as a deep auburn or a deep brown with reddish highlights, like her mother. I also read frequently that she had the same blue-grey eyes as her mother and the rest of her siblings, that only Maria inherited her father's pure blue.
