I've seen those portrait too. I'm pretty sure they were taken in 1914...Does anybody knows if other pictures from that album have been posted or showed before?

I'm pretty sure those photos have already been posted somewhere in the forum, but can't relocate the thread, now.
I'm also quite sure they were taken in 1914 - Maria's hair is still down, & Tatiana's is just like in summer 1914.
I love the blpuse O&T wear, BTW

тяв-тяв,

Sorry for mixup - old dog's eyes are dim.  I hadn't seen those photos before until I clicked around on youtube last week.  They are very nice and I  would like to have the set in better quality.  If anyone here has then please post/repost.

It's a beautiful colourisation, do you know whose it is? It reminds me of staella on deviantart.

I downloaded the file from http://madameguillotine.org.uk.  I was hoping to find a colorized uncropped version but have been unlucky thus far.  There's a pic on the site of two dresses that when you mouseover it says "Maria And Anastasia's Dresses"  I believe that these were actually the dresses worn by Olga and Tatiana on the home movie aboard the Standart where the sailors are kissing their hands (though it's possible that Maria and Anastasia wore them as hand me downs).

Ortipo, I have found this picture which is very similar to the coloured one you posted on Ally's wonderful site:
http://nd01.jxs.cz/729/308/1fc31368ed_44825685_o2.jpg
one that is incredibly alike but smaller:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a9/Olga_%C3%A9s_Tatj%C3%A1na_in_court_gown_1913.jpg
and the one you posted but in b&w:

Hope this is of help. Also, having looked back over staella's gallery, I don't think the colouring is one of hers but maybe from one of the earlier colourists on the forum? I'm afraid I don't have the patience to scroll through all the topics to find it, lol.

Thanks GDIsabelle,
The pic I posted is nice but doesn't appear to be quite accurate.  Nor does this one ---

Trying to find full length colorized pics that match these ---

I suppose that's the fun of colouring, not having to use exact colours but making up your own :)

The cream , deep  peach satin and the 3-D flowers  and other details  of the real dresses always knock me out. Can't imagine the effect of the girls in them  ... dazzling . The photographer  should be even points for not fainting! lol!

I agree, they are beautiful dresses and I bet they are even more beautiful when you see them in person.

Sadly, no.  They are damaged, stained, and faded.  The great thing is using your imagination and thinking what they must have been like when new and worn by the Grand Duchesses - they are some of the few court dresses which we know for sure were worn by them, since so many of the court dresses have very uncertain attributions.

Right ok, so I came across Nicholas' full title which was announced at his coronation (gosh, it's long!) And I was wondering if any of his other titles corresponded to the Grand Duchesses as well.
Here's the title:

"Nicholas, Emperor and Autocrat of All the Russias, of Moscow, Kiev, Vladimir, Novgorod; Tsar of Kazan, Tsar of Astrakhan, Tsar of Poland, Tsar of Siberia, Tsar of Tauric Chersonesus, Tsar of Georgia; Lord of Pskov, and Grand Prince of Smolensk, Lithuania, Volhynia, Podolia, and Finland; Prince of Estonia, Livonia, Courland and Semigalia, Samogitia, Bielostok, Karelia, Tver, Yugor, Perm, Vyatka, Bogar and others; Sovereign and Grand Prince of Nizhni Novgorod, Chernigov, Ryazan, Polotsk, Rostov, Jaroslavl, Beloozero, Udoria, Obdoria, Kondia, Vitebsk, Mstislav, and Ruler of all Northern territories; Sovereign and Lord of Iveria, Kartalinia, the Kabardinian lands and Armenian province: hereditary Sovereign and Ruler of the Circassian and Mountain Princes and of others; Sovereign of Turkestan, Heir of Norway, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein, Stormarn, Ditmarn, and Oldenberg, and so forth, and so forth, and so forth.

So, would Olga, for example, s title have included, Princess of Kazan, Grand Duchess of Poland, Grand Duchess of Siberia, etc?

Also, would Alix have been given the title of Tsarina of Kazan, Tsarina of Astrakhan, etc?
