Obrenovich Family (except the Kings)

I wanted to start this thread about the unfortunate Obrenovich family of Serbia!Allmost all of them either died young(Prince Milan who died after the reign of just one month) or were exiled(first Prince Milosh and a founder of a dinasty and King Milan I of Serbia) or were murdered(Prince Michail of Serbia or King alexander and Queen Draga)...

First Prince and a founder of Obrenovich dynasty who ruled Serbia twice:first time from 1815-1839 and the second time from 1858-1860!He is also famous for ordering a murder of George Petrovich(the founder and the first Prince/Duke of the opposite Karadjorgievich dynasty) who was his godfather...

His wife Princess Ljubica who murdered one of her husbands many mistresses!She was born from a colateral branch of Vukomanovich family witch was enobled because one of her ancestors who was a knight in the 13th century saved Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa!As a gift he gave him the title(I think Vukomanovich von Loewen-don't have anything with the Loewenstein's) and the main branch went to Russia and lived in Odessa!They dropped Vukomanovich and even obtained the title of Prince in Russia(I think it they were called in Russian Lvov instead of von Lowen)!

Their son Prince Milan who reigned Serbia in 1839(while his father was exiled) just for one month and then died!

After the death of Prince Milosh,his second son Prince Michail reigned Serbia from 1860-1868!He was very cultured and educated man who traveled around Europe before he reign in Serbia !He was murdred in 1868!

Prince Michail's wife Princess Julia,who was born Countess Hynady de Kethely and had the ''task'' to relate Obrenovich ruling family to some of the oldest families of Austro-Hungarian Empire(such as Zichy de Zich et Vasonkeo,Palffy de Erdod,Colloredo-Mansfeld,Festetics von Tolna,Khevenhueller-Metsch)!But,she could not have children!As the time passed by Prince Michail attached himself to his first cousins daughter Katharina and Julia was already in affair with Duke Karl von Arenberg!As Michail was killed he had no time to divorce and remarry,so Julia stayed a widow for a long time!She continued her love affair with Duke Karl von Arenberg,Prince von Recklinghausen and married him only 8 years before her death with was in 1919!She was born in Vienna in 1831 and died in 1919!

This woman above caused a great grief to the last King and Queen of the Obrenovich dynasty!She was born Nathalie Lilli Konstantinovich and was a granddaughter of Princess Anka Obrenovich of Serbia witch makes her father Colonel Alexander Konstantinovich first cousin of King Milan I and makes her second cousin of King Alexander I Obrenovich!While King Alexander and Queen Draga didn't have children and there were no rightfull heirs to the throne Nathalie Lilli Konstantinovich(who was living in Italy with her parents) married Prince Mirko of Montenegro,Grand Duke of Grahovo!Obrenovich family of Serbia and Petrovich family of Montenegro were already at this time enemies and when King Alexander I of Serbia heard about the marriage of his cousin to Prince of Montenegro he didn't want to hear for both of them!This marriage was an aranged one because King Nicholas I of Montenegro hoped that one day though his daughter in law(who descended from ruling Obrenovich family of Serbia) he could unite two countries and be the ruler of the united country since Alexander and Draga didn't have children!All this lead to great distance and hate between two ruling families of two neibourghing countries!But,when King Alexander and Queen Draga were murdred,his son in law Prince Peter from Karadjordjevich family(of King Nicholas I of Montenegro) became next King of Serbia!In the end King Nicholas's grandson King alexander of Yugoslavia fullfilled his own dream and united two countries along with Macedonia,Bosnia,Croatia and Slovenia and thus forced his own grandfather to exile!At that time all the rightfull male heirs to Obrenovich family were alreadt=y dead and the house of Obrenovich extinct!
