"Coronation" by Boris Akunin
« on: April 14, 2005, 09:59:57 PM »
This book is part of the Erast Fandorin series that started with The Winter Queen. It is a murder mystery that takes place in 1876 1896 during the time of Nicholas II  coronation. I was not able to find an English version, only Russian. Does anyone know if the English translation of this book exists, or has anyone else even heard of this book?

Helen, on the "Winter Queen" thread, Mike mentions that "Coronation" has not been published in English yet.

Enjoying Akunin, I can't wait  ;)

Thanks, Sunny, I must have missed that part... I heard now that Coronation is in the process of being translated into English!

I just ran across a newly released movie based on one of Akunin's other books, "The Turkish Gambit".

Anyone know if they made any other movies based on his books?

There's a movie called Azazel, based on The Winter Queen (which I understand is called "Azazel" in Russian?):
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0312403/
It gets a bad review at the Internet Movie Database.  :(

And there's one called Statski sovetnik, which sounds like it's based on one of the later books that hasn't been translated into English yet.

I'm also looking forward to the English translation of Coronation.  I love all the Akunin books that have been translated so far.  (And I wish I knew Russian!)  :)

Dear Helen A,

I've not seen any information on "Coronation", but according to the www.amazon.co.uk website, a book titled "Special Assignments: The Further Adventures of Erast Fandorin" will be published in February 2007. Unfortunatley, there was no description of the book.

I don't know if this will be of interest, but I thought I'd pass it along.
