lol! we went to the Museum of Costume in Bath, England, amazing place you have to go there! and they had a exhibition were you could try one on, i wanted to but i didn't have the time!!! :)
the worst corsets were at the beginning of the twentieth century when women were squeezed into the s-shape.
the Elizebethan ones look pretty vicious!

I'm sure they did wear corsets, children used to wear corsets from the age of two or three, but i think that was a little bit before OTMA,

That was LONG before OTMA. Girls during the early 20th century usually wore them closer to 16 or perhaps when they gained a 'figure.'

I highly doubt anyone would actually want to wear a corset on a daily basis. They were extremely confining and restricting, affecting not only your breathing, but your range of movement. Many women fainted from the pressure or hot weather.

it depends on how tight you lace them, i mean they were under such huge pressure to make themselves thin that they tighened them so much as to  cause discomfort.

The era that OTMA wore corsets was much more comfortable.  It was just to achieve a slimmer look, though I doubt Olga and Tatiana would have needed it all that much!  I like them; my prom gown had a built in corset and it felt terrific on my back.

my prom dress was boned but it still looked like a sack! Anyway! women, well not all of us,  feel under pressure to go with a certain image or perfection or whatever, so i suppose tight waists and corsets were the old version of a big chest and breast implants,

i think corsets were made because women were self councise on how they looked! so this person made a courset.

The more things change the more they stay the same! I think people fainting from too tightly laced corsets is not so different from people starving themselves to look thinner thses days, and often just as dangerous.

However, everyone (well, females that is) wore them, not just thin or regular sized people, it was part of their underwear.

really? part of there underwear? i never knew that. i just thought that you got to choose what you wore. never mind then lolz. i would rather wear a coreset than starve my self. because you can still eat while wearing a corset.

Well, you could choose what you wore - there were some scandalous women who didn't wear corsets. In the late 60s there were some women who didn't wear bras. Getting way off topic here.

All this talk about girls fainting from wearing corsets reminds me of those couple of scenes in Pirates of the Caribbean where Elizabeth Swann puts on her corset, and ends of fainting and falling into the sea, only to be saved by Johnny Depp. ;)
