I'm not sure if this could be informative though;

I know the name of the owner of the Steiff teddy bear called "Alfonzo." (it belonged to Princess Xenia, the daughter of George Michailovich, aka Anastasia's second cousin)

Mr. Ian Pout

99 High Street, Witney,
Oxfordshire, OX28 6HY, England
Tel: 01993 702616 or 706616
Fax: 01993 702344
E-mail: ordersonly@witneybears.co.uk

He has a teddy bear shop called "Witney" and the bear is always displayed in the shop, I guess.

This is his teddy shop's webpage;
http://www.teddybears.co.uk/

Through online-shop, you could buy a "baby Alfonzo," a replica of the bear btw...

But why would Anastasia have Princess Xenia's teddy bear when they were under house arrest??

The photograph was taken in winter 1914/1915 I think.  It's a dog, not a teddy bear.  Which dog I don't know.  It could be Jemmy who was Tatiana's, it could be some other dog; Nicholas was very fond of dogs and had many of them.  I think perhaps the dog is Shvybzik, who died in the summer (? I think) of 1915.

Jemmy was Tatiana's? I thought he/she was Anastasia's.

Yea Jemmy is Anastasia's, but didn't Tatiana first own him and then gave him to Anastasia?

Jemmy was never Anastasia's.  S/he was Tatiana's dog.

The thing in Anastasia's lap looks definatley like a teddy bear. It's face is just so lifeless and its arms so stuck out and rigid!
And if it IS a teddy bear, then it's not necessarily hers. It could possibly be Alexei's, for example.

I agree. See how its legs and arms stick out. I think it's definatley a teddy. (My opinion, of course.)

Like Lanie said, it is a dog, not a teddy bear. The eyes are too small, the head too awkward, and the arms too small to be a bear. The reason its arms are positioned like that is because of the way Anastasia is holding the dog. She looks about 15 or so there, so it's probably Shvybzik.

It sounds like a good explanation, Ortino. Anastasia was too old for a teddy bear. If she had 15 or so,  she wouldn't appear in a photo holding a Teddy Bear or a toy-dog.  ;D

Here is a picture of a teddy bear that belonged to the children. As can be seen, the animal in question in the first picture looks nothing like a bear.

 Here is a pomeranian with an almost identical build to the dog in the picture. Its limbs are very short, its coat thick and wide, and its ears barely peeking out from beneath its fur.

I think that the car Anastasia is on belongs to Alexei. Doesn't the car match the one of the pictures of the Alexander Palace when it was a museum? I remember a picture of Alexei driving the same car. His Mercedes-Benz isn't it? I think its cute that Alexei shared his car with Anastasia :) Its also cool how the Grand Duchesses are so comfortable in front of a camera. They came up with their own poses!!!

Also, does anyone know the exact year the pic was taken?

I'm sorry, I should have clarified myself. What I meant was, Anastasia is probably on the same miniature car that Alexei owns. I think it was given to him by his parents and it was a Mercedes-Benz. There is a picture of this car in the Mountain Hall of the Alexander Palace when it was a museum after the revolution. I've seen a picture of Alexei driving the car with an officer beside him. I wish I have a scanner to post the picture. I'm sure somebody else have seen this picture and can share it. Hope this clarifies it. :D
