She would definitely do that since she cannot stand others' pain. She always likes to be fair with other people.

Amazing colored fotos  by the most wonderful Yelena Aleksandrovna. Endless thank you very much!

At that time Grand Duke Sergey Alexandrovich, Ell`s husband, was the Governor of Moscow so Alix and Niki felt somewhat obliged to attend the ball given by Sergey and Ella. Although some people tried to dissuade the Imperial couple fom going to this ball, mAlix, in all probability, wnted to support her sister and her husband. She was misunderstood so it was rumoured that the tzar with his German wife were dancing merily and rejoicing over the grief of the Russian people. Bad start, indeed

Yes this is true!, I read this in the book of Henri Troyat "Nicholas II and the tragic end of the Romanovs".
Unfortunately Nicholas and Alexandra were tragically misunderstood...I don't believe that the Imperial couple were dancing thoughtlessly without thinking of the terrible tragedy happened a few hours before.
And if I'm not wrong, Alexandra propose to leave the ball early.

She didn't even want to go, but the court push the royal couple to attend. In worries that they might had offend the french representatives.

If those french representatives wouldn't feel bad with the Imperial couple's absence, the Imperial couple should have gone to Hodinka to express their utter sympathy.
By that, there would be no bad issues about them and the start of reign was a good one .

I got this one from Ella F.'s biography:

"Most glorious and impressive ceremony," Prince Arthur wrote to his mother, omitting however to tell her that at one moment during the long ceremony the Emperor, overcome by the weight of his Imperial robes, by the heat, the clouds of incense and the smell of the flickering candles, had nearly fainted, and had let the jewelled sceptre fall from his fingers. Although it was quickly recovered, and he pulled himself together, the accident gave the superstitious yet another reason for their gloomy predictions of misfortune.

It is such a foreboding incident.

Here's one which can prove Alix has sympathy for those people:

The fact that the Emperor and Empress were present that night at a ball given by the French Ambassador, was also severely criticized, but the Empress, who had returned from the hospitals in floods of tears, had begged and prayed to have the ball postponed, and was told that it was not possible at the last moment, for it would not do to offend France. But she was, Sir Nicholas O'Connor noted, evidently in great distress, her eyes were reddened with tears, and the ball was altogether a dismal affair, nobody able to forget the horror of what had occurred.

This is exactly the news I was looking for, thank you very much!  :)

I was unsure where to place this, as it’s a very broad question, but here goes… Do any photos exist of Nicholas II wearing his crown?  Naturally I’v seen the distant photo of him underneath the ceremonial canopy, and understand the issue of photographs being taken during orthodox ceremonies, but I thought, Nicholas, who so often utilized photography as a P.R tool during his reign, would have had a portrait with him wearing the crown, whether it be a photo or a painting...

James.

For what it's worth I've put together an album of photos etc of the coronation of Nicholas II that I've saved over the years. As far as I'm aware no photos were taken of the coronation itself inside the church.  The orthodox church. even today, in my experience, don't like photos being taken inside them....and this was a very sacred event, hence you only see paintings and drawings of it.  Some photos were taken outside, either before or after, and there is proof of that with the photo of Empress Marie in her coronation outfit that was used as the basis for the large painting by Tuxen. However, I've never seen an equivalent photo of Nicholas or Alexandra, a shame as I'd love to see one.

Now that is something new! Thank you! I didn´t know that the Moscow was "glowing" also during their coronation.
