If the picture was taken in 1899, then it must have been Olga, as the child looks much more like four or going on four than two.

Which picture are you talking about? the one i posted o the one posted by Karl and zita. The one i posted is olga, the other is Tatiana, both are from the same period and visit . Olga has long hair, Tatiana short.

One of things that led to my belief is that there is not a photo in that album of Olga & Tatatiana "togather" in Darmstadt. People can argue on points but personal attacks are not. Maybe I am too old fashioned in belief in civility as oppose to todays Fox' news "shout you down" or "O'Reily".

Maybe they are, I'm not sure. I guessed that they are from the same year since Olga has almost the same wave hair and length on the hair and she has on the one you posted Katenka_Fyodorovna. I found them on the same site, but you can well be true.

I am deeply touched. For the very first time I saw a film of Ernst Ludwig. It is only a short moment - but he is kissing Nicholas II goodbye when leaving Livadia for Darmstadt in 1911.
The footage includes Grand Duchess Eleonore and little Prince Ludwig as well.
