I'm not a fan of the man himself, but his book is simply amazing! It's my pride and joy to own.

I personally love Peter Kurth and all of the other books he has written, my favorites is the one about Isadora Duncan. He has a wonderful website too.

This is the book that began my fascination with the Romanovs when my father bought it for my mother in 1995.

Absolutely beautiful book. One of my favourites.

I just finished reading Tsar. Wonderful pictures, as you all have said. The only problem I have with it is his obvious bias towards AA as AN. That ruined the whole text for me. IMHO, AA was not AN. No one could have left that room alive.  Still, this book is a must-have for the pictures alone. Brilliant, kudos to Christopher.

True, Kurth doesn't disguise his opinion on the identity of AA/AN, but in fairness, the discussion of the issue is confined to a very small portion of the book.

Very true, Sarushka. I haven't read his other books yet, am looking forward to them, because I do like his style. Just because one disagrees with an author doesn't mean one can't read and enjoy his/her works.  :)

I just ordered this used for £4.  I am delighted! I can't wait to receive it as I've been looking for this book at a reasonable price for ages.

I will let you all know what I think when it arrives, which won't be for ages because it's coming from the USA.

You're going to love it, it's almost exactly like you thought "Court of the Last Tsar" would be.

Well, my copy FINALLY arrived today and WHAT a book! :D

I have only had a chance to look through at the pictures; haven't settled down to actually read the text yet.

The photographs are stunning and there are so many I've never seen before.  Plus the aerial views of the palaces, the before and after photos; they're all terrific.  This is now the best book in my collection!

I'm SO glad I ordered this! I'm just delighted with it! :)

I'm glad you like it! My favorite part of the book is the "then and now" pictures that are in it.

Great book
A piece of advice  when buying a translation: look at every page to make sure it's translated in the language you want. I got one partly Dutch - partly German. Had to bring it back to the shop, not funny when you're waiting three weeks for the delivery.
