As I just mentioned in a PM, I don't really have a favourite. It feels too weird to choose between them - does that make sense?

But I've always felt an affinity moreso to Marie, Anastasia and Alexei. I think because they were the youngest, and so their deaths were all the more tragic. And I think there are many traits in the three of them that I always identified with.

Good question! I really don't know. It is perhaps recorded in the chronicles, I will try to look later, or perhaps you will have a chance before I do.

Ol'ga Rodionovna, can you tell me by any chance to whom Ol'ga of Kiev was married to?  I have a book on Russian succession and it has family tries that go back to Rurik I.  I'm not sure that it's far enough, but perhaps she's listed somewhere there.  If that's the case, I'll look up her patronymic for you.  I just need to know the name of her husband or if she was born to one of the Keivan Princes, her father's name would be of help as well.

She is indeed listed in my book, unfortunately though it doesn't tell her patronymic.  All it says in regard to her is that she lived near present-day Pskov prior to her marriage.  She bore Igor one son, named Sviatoslav.  The years of her life are 912-945.  I'm sure you already knew this, so I aplogize for bein redundant.  I'm sorry if I couldn't help you more.

i am new here, this is my first post, so i'd just like to say hi....

i find it interesting that out of all romanovs most people pick on nicholas' family... i find the others much more interesting...

like serge, he seems like an interesting person, a bit mysterious...

and then there's kyrill and his torrid love affair with ducky, he risked a lot for that and then he turned a  bit cold-hearted towards the end...

let's not forget catherine the great... although i'm not sure she counts as a romanov,  but she sure was interesting

then there was alexander 2nd, the liberator tsar who had such a tragic death (had he not cared for the people around him and went on with his journey, he might have lived a bit more...) and he had the guts to actually marry a commoner...

...and the list goes on
