My favorite of course is Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna because I consider her the most beautiful and lovely young girl/lady I've ever seen (in pictures of course ;)).  And I also really am attracted to her passionate personality.  She's a very haunting figure.

Anastasia has always been my favorite. We have so much in common. When I made my dad read a biography of her I had to tell himin the end that it was about Anastasia and not me! ;D

Tatiana Nikolaievna, why? i saw something peculiar about her but i cant figure it out, it's not only because of her religiousity, or her devotion to her family.
truly, very enigmatic.
Dare not to be indifferent

My favorite Romanov is Olga Nikolaievna. She had a short temper, just like me, and seemed the most human of her siblings.

My favorite Romanov who isn't a Romanov is Felix Yusupov. He makes me smile.

Without a doubt, it's Alexandra Feodorovna. For whatever reason, I've always felt the most "kinship" with her, an understanding of her situation, personality, and worldview that makes me empathize with her the most. It may also stem from the fact that I tend to always defend the much-maligned people, and there aren't too many people in history more unjustly skewered as Alexandra as been, at least in my opinion.

Hi! I would love to now your favourite German/Austrian royal from former times til this day! My faves are Marie Gabrielle in Bavaria, Margarete "Mossy" of Prussia and Eugen of Austria-Teschen (he was so good-looking!). And yours?

What a cool thread!  :)

Hmm . . . I'd have to go with:
1] Empress Maria Theresa - she had such character!
2] Sophie of Prussia, Queen of Greece - such a sad life, it's hard not to pity her . . .
3] Frederick III 'Fritz' of Germany - though occassionally weak willed and prone to depression, his heart was in the right place . . .
4] Margarete 'Mossy' of Prussia - she was so placid and never done anything to upset her mother.
5] Franz Josef I of Austria - another one I feel sorry for . . . he lived far too long, and his last years were very sad.

I would have included the Empress Frederick but I think she is regarded as an English royal (and no doubt she always considered herself as such!)

Viktoria and Fritz are indeed my favorites, not only as German royals, but they rank on top of my list of royals throughout Europe and England. Vicky was 3/4 German in the first place and was in awe of her full-blooded German father. She was totally dedicated to Fritz and together they had great visions for the German Empire that focused on social improvements, democratic/parlimentary government, education, etc. All the good stuff. Fritz was truly a man's man. Together they were a most handsome couple, very intellectual, kind, understanding, and visionary. They rate high on all measurements! Thanks for the chance to rave on them once again!

My favorite Romanov is Grand Duchess Marie, third daughter of Nicholas II.  She had the nicest personality, and was probably the easiest to get along, with of the four sisters. She was uncomplicated, and seems like she was a nice person who one would like to know. She probably woudn't have had a dramatic life if she had lived, unlike Olga or Tatiana. She always said that marriage and motherhood is what she wanted most. It is unfortunate that she never got much of a chance to make the world aware of her, unlike the Czar's other children. In their lifetimes, Olga and Tatiana were known as the eldest daughters of the Czar, who got some attention before World War I  shrouded them in. Tsarvitch Alexei was well known  because he was the heir. Anastasia had a personality that had a memorable effect on her contemporaries and on history.

But Grand Duchess Marie was often overlooked, being the Czar's third daughter, and not having a personality that made you notice her. But from accounts of her, it seems she was the one who would have been the best to know. Also, she was probably the most beautiful of the sisters, at least according to modern standards of beauty. She a lovely face, and those wide open eyes that speak across the years. Tatiana was an exoctic beauty, but Marie had that Princess Diana kind of beauty, that just grabs the camera. I have always thought  her face resembled Tsarina Alexandra, and the English side of the Family. Her coloring and build was more like the Russian side. Grand Duchess Marie was, by all acounts, the nicest of the sisters-an angel.

My favourite is definitely Olga Nikolaievna! I find her most prettiest (though that's not why I like her) and the kindest. She had a compassionate heart and desire to help others. She also read a lot. I would say she's the most like me.

GO OLGA !!!!!

My favourite Romanov would have to be Olga Nikolaevna out of NAOTMAA, then Maria Feodorovna and then Olga Aleksandrovna.

Olga because I can relate as to what she went through in the war years.

Maria Feodorovna for being a great empress and a good wife.

Olga Aleksandrovna for actually getting on with her life after the Revolution, unlike others... ::)
