Amazon UK and Ebay UK are both viable resources.  It does help to have a  UK delivery address, but not necessary.

Kiaro : You asked about the family albums in the Beinecke Collection. Last time I looked, there were six albums to browse (Numbers 2- 7). Each one has about 35 or 40 pages, and there are often four, five or even more photos on each page. I still haven't seen them all!
I'm sure there are other people who know more about them than I do.

Hi! I'm new here and have a pretty stupid question. I want to buy the Private World of the Last Tsar but there are two listings for the book on a website I found, are these two titles the same book?

The Private World of the Last Tsar: In the Photographs and Notes of General Count Alexander Grabbe
Paul Grabbe, Beatrice Grabbe

and

The Private World of the Last Tsar, 1912-17
Paul Grabbe, Beatrice Grabbe (Editor), Paul (Editor)

The second book is far cheaper, is it the same one?

Again, sorry for what probably seems a silly question.  :-[

They sure sound like the same book to me. The American edition was published by Little Brown in 1984, and the UK edition by Harper Collins in 1985 -- that might explain the difference in title. If you post the links to the listings, I'd be happy to double-check them for you.

Thanks for the publishing info. The first title is the one published in 1984 and the second in 1985.

Thanks for helping to clear thet up.  :)

I can't be *certain* they're the same, but I'm pretty darn sure. If I were you I'd take the risk and buy the cheaper one. I don't know of any other photo-books by Paul & Beatrice Grabbe, and I can tell you that the photos of the Imperial Family in my American edition of the book do date from 1912-1917. (There are a few earlier photos, but they're of ordinary, unidentified Russians). Also, when I put the cheaper book's ISBN into a Google search, it brings up the better-known title: The Private World of the Last Tsar: In the Photographs and Notes of General Count Alexander Grabbe.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's the same book, just sort of different editions. Anyway, welcome, OlgaNRomanovaFan!!!  :-*

Recently, I liked very much the new photo book "Tsarskoe Selo" written by L. Bordovskaya.
It is about the history of the place and two palaces - Ecaterina and Alexandr - since the construction till the time of Nicholas II.
I really enjoyed this book.
Hihly recommended.

Is this in Russian or English? It sounds very interesting, but I can't read or speak Russian.  :-/

Is it this one, hikaru?
Tsarskoye Selo: The Imperial Summer Residence

I just bought this, and it's lovely. (I'm at work, so I can't double check and see if it's the same author as hikaru's book). It was published last fall, and my friend who went to Tsarskoye Selo this summer is terribly envious of it. She said it's an excellent representation of the palaces and parks, and it's full of the sort of photos she wished she was skilled enough to take. It's available in 3 or 4 languages, Ortino, and Russian and English are among them.
