Marie as Princess Windisch-Graetz. It was listed on ebay simply "Princess Windisch-Graetz"

Maria Antonia, at the time when she was a possible bride for King Alfonso XIII of Spain

Again,I like so much seeing this thread alive ;)

I must ask again, why the match between Maria Antonia and Alfonso XIII never turned into reality?

Any problems occurred or just they didn't like each other?

Let's put it like this:

Maria Antonia was the kaiser's candidate.

Victoria-Eugenia was England's and Edward VII's.

Guess who was more important to Spain back then ?

Besides, a newspaper created a poll for spaniards to vote on their future queen.

Maria Antonia came in the end of the list

What a silly situation ;) Victoria-Eugenia was the fist cousin of the Kaiser :)

She could have been the kaiser's first cousin, but how close were them ?

Ena was born in England, lived all her youth surrounded by the english RF, and was impregnated by english values.

Nothing to do with authocratic Germany and its Emperor.

Sorry, Marc, that's not her. There is a slight resemblance, but that's not Maria Antonia.

Thanks Sveta...at first glance she looked to me like Johanna von Hartenau, but obviously Berliner Auktionshaus für Geschichte where I found the photo made a mistake by saying:

"KABINETTFOTO HERZOGIN MARIE ANTOINETTE, genannt "Manette", (1884-1944, Tochter Herzog Paul Friedrichs, jüngerer Bruder d. Großherzogs Friedrich Franz III.), Atelier H. Kleemann, Charlottenburg um 1905"
