i heard mignon was the only one happilly married out of missy's children? anyone know anything about the actual marriage or was the fact that she was the only one who never got a divorce the only reason for that statement?

I've heard conflicting stories. One that they were very happy together, the other that it was a rather cold but civil affair. It seems to have at least been a friendly union from what I can tell but whether it was 'happy' I don't know. Certainly looks good next to the dynastic trainwrecks that were Carol/Helen and Elizabeth/George.

i can't seem to find much about them, although i'm pretty interested. i saw some pictures, and i think they look good together, although not too close (though not distant to each other either...)

the books i read said that he convinced her to marry him by telling her that he lived alone in a big castle... that sounds like he stroke some sort of chord with her (sympathy and everything)... apparently she was set on not getting married...

they had a very unhappy marriage and the funny thing is that althought her mother, Queen Marie of Romania, influenced her to get married, she never forced upon her, so the bride chose her fate herself. Her husband was a cold and distant man much worried with the instability of his country and some say that in love with his sister-in-law, Princess Olga of Greece.

When he died murdered in France in 1934, Marie didnt mourned that much. She was happily free after 12 years of torment

Olga Nikolaevna, Nicholas II's daughter.  He wanted to propose to her and apparently Nicholas said it was alright but then WWI started and foiled that plan.

 Prince_Leo,

Princess Olga wasn't King Alexander's sister-in-law,she was married with Prince Paul, who was Alexander's cousin.

Regards.

We're getting the  2 Olga's mixed up.

Alexander's first love was apparently GDss Olga N (daughter of Nicholas and Alexandra) and he was devastated by her 1918 murder.

The other Olga referred to is Princess Olga of Greece (sister of Marina, Duchess of Kent) who married his cousin Prince Paul of Yugoslavia.

thanks for the info GD...thats really new to me!!

Do you have any idea why they never dated?? because Prince Carol (Marie's of Roumania son) was once suggested as a possible husband for olga. Theres even a famous pic of the 2 families altogether in Roumania, but apparentelly the young couple didnt get along well and the plan was put off by the parents.

Uh.  People didn't "date" back then.

Alexander spent a lot of his early life in Russia and at the Russian Court, so that's probably how they met.  His sister said Olga had a crush on him, but who knows--we don't know her feelings about it...

He did spend a lot of time in Russia! His sister Elena and his aunts Militza and Anastasia were married into Imperial family! He recived many Russian families after revolution! His son Prince Tomislav's first love was(although platonic) was Princess Nathalia Bagration-Moukhransky,daughter of Princess Tatiana of Russia(daughter of Grand Duke Konstantin and sister in law to Alexander's sister Elena) and Prince Constantin Bagration-Moukhransky from thr former rulung house of Georgia! Her mother Princess Tatiana was living in Yugoslavia at that time,at the Court of King Alexander I!Don't really know if Alexander was really in love with his cousin in law Princess Olga, but know that Mignon was sometimes angry with him because his favorite was Prince Alexander(son of Prince Paul and Princess Olga)!Mignon said that he was too much atached to this child and King Alexander said he loved his little cousin because he is very much alike him and has same sought of character...
