I love her look, especially her cap with beads very typical of the years 20-30.

Mignon was the daughter more resembling  the mother of her sisters, and even more beautiful in her youth ! This wonderful photo shows her beauty  ::) ::)

There is no secret that Alexander I admired Olga of Greece who was beautiful, sophiticated and worldly. Mignon's beauty was more old fashioned in her blonde colouring and lovely skin. However Olga could hold a conversation during cocktail hour and do small talk. That was somthing that Mignon cannot compete and she got angry and jealous about it.

Apparently, Alexander I of Yugoslavia preferred women tall and thin and I've always wondered why he thing a woman as cute so far from his standards of beauty. I know that before his marriage with Mignon, he wishes to marry the Princess Francoise d'Orleans, daughter of the Duke of Guise, which corresponded to his type of woman. Unfortunately, the Princess who would not be queen, refused his marriage proposal.

Well...It was a dynastic marriage as great Serbia (Yugoslavia) entered into a relationship with Romania. Yes, Francoise would the the kind of thin, sophisticated woman that Alexander I admired. It was also in vogue to look lean and elagant--women like Wallis Simpson, Edwina Mountbatten (slim down after her marriage) and of course Olga of Greece. People wrote back thinking I was against women of the more fleshy type. But the vogue of beauty had always been slim (From Triggy, Audrey Hepburn to Kate Moss).

Yes, I think that Alexander would gladly realize Franco-Serbian friendship further strengthened after the First World War by marrying a French princess.

Yes. It must be tough for Mignon to compete for her husband's attention for someone so near to her home. No wonder she was bad tempered and unhappy...
